On Friday, Americans learned that illegal crossings along the U.S. southern border reached an all-time high in December 2023, with a whopping 249,785 arrests. That number is up 31 percent from the December 2022 total of 222,018, also an all-time high. Those arrests are crossings we know about. The actual number of people who have no business being in the United States is undoubtedly much higher. But in an election year, the fact that liberalism is all about emotions and how you feel versus what is best for the country is on full display. The results of a new poll are bearing that out. 

The western world is determined to commit suicide. A poll showed 55% of democrat voters would vote for open border candidates. This is very, very bad.

The online poll conducted by CRC Research for The 85 Fund asked 1,600 registered voters from January 3-7 if they “would be more or less likely to support a candidate who…Says that immigration is healthy for the U.S. and we should keep our borders open to fill jobs many Americans do not want to do.” Of the respondents who said they were Democrats, 55 percent said they would support those candidates, just 36 percent said they would be less likely. It is an answer that should get the attention of every Republican voter. Of those who said they were Republicans, 78 percent said they would not support those candidates, and 18 percent said they would. 

Friday's numbers are part of a larger and equally dubious set of numbers. The total number of illegal crossings for fiscal year 2023 was more than 2 million people, with seemingly no end in sight. James Massa is the CEO of Numbers USA, a non-profit that focuses on immigration. He voiced many of the fears that the Biden administration's wide-open border policy has sparked in Americans, saying:

This administration’s unwillingness to enforce the law has caused the impact of uncontrolled immigration to penetrate deep into the psyche of voters in ways that evoke fear and frustration. They fear 9/11-like terrorist attacks. They are frustrated over costs and unavailability of health care, housing, and education. Howard Beale said it in the iconic film Network, the American people are “mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.

Democrats support an open border policy with the goal of thinking these so called "migrants" will vote for Democratic Party candidates. No need for ID or citizenship too since Democrats think voters don't need ID (that's racist) and non-citizens should be able to vote.

For those Democrats polled who are okay with open borders, the millions of illegal immigrants pouring in are all just poor people searching for a better life. And in many instances, that is true. But many of those Democrat poll respondents could also see that never-ending stream as a target-rich environment, targets that have the big "D" of a possible future Democrat voter assigned to them. They have no interest in another sizeable and disturbing fact. The fact is that in fiscal year (FY) 2023, there were 169 encounters by Border Patrol of people who are on the terror watch list. It not only surpasses the number for FY 2022 -- which was 98 and also a record-setter -- but that of the last six fiscal years combined. 

But for those Democrat poll respondents and Democrats and the left in general, illegal immigration is all about how it makes them feel, and they like to use the word "humane." Letting all of those people into the country illegally makes them feel good, as long as the illegal immigrants don't pick their neighborhood in which to begin their new life. They don't want to talk about another fact -- the fact that a letter was sent recently to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) from 10 former FBI officials, who stated that, because of the large number of military-aged men now entering the country, there is a heightened threat of what they called an "imminent but preventable" terrorist attack on the U.S. And as for "humane," my colleague Ward Clark reported recently that Border Patrol arrested four known criminals crossing the border, two known child sex offenders, a convicted murderer, and another convicted of endangering the welfare of a child. 

To sum up, Democrats would support candidates who are for open border policies, even in light of these alarming facts. This is what we are up against. These are the people who will vote in November. 

Mission accomplished.
