You just knew that when President Joe Biden named Vice President Kamala Harris the “border czar” in 2021, that too, would be a disaster. That was borne out when her first order of business was not to actually go to the border to see the chaos firsthand for herself, but to immediately go to Guatemala and Mexico to investigate the “root causes” of illegal immigration.

When she was apparently unsuccessful in finding the root causes of illegal immigration there, and amidst public pressure, Harris then traveled to El Paso Texas. Just one problem: El Paso was some 800 miles from where the majority of illegal border crossings were happening at the time in the Rio Grande Valley. But Texas Gov. Greg Abbott might have made it just a bit easier to find those root causes, after yet another busload of illegal immigrants from the U.S. southern border was dropped off Sunday night near the Vice President’s residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington D.C.

The mayors of Democrat-run sanctuary cities should probably get used to seeing busloads of immigrants arriving in those sanctuary cities. Hours before Title 42 was set to expire on Thursday night, during an appearance on the Fox News Channel, Abbott stated that the buses were going to keep coming. But for these mayors, being a sanctuary city is fun, until of course you are forced to actually be one. New York City Mayor Eric Adams signed an emergency executive order on Wednesday, the day before the expiration of Title 42, suspending New York’s right-to-shelter rules that immediately find lodging for asylum seekers, citing dwindling capacity. The same is happening in Chicago, another self-described sanctuary city. Outgoing Mayor Lori Lightfoot is also crying lack of space. In a letter to Gov. Abbott on Sunday, she said, “Though I am sympathetic to the significant challenges that border cities face, this situation is completely untenable.”

Any response V.P. and border czar Harris may have regarding Washington D.C.’s newest residents, is getting plenty of cover from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Mayorkas appeared on CNN on Sunday to brag about the great job the Biden administration was doing at the border in the wake of the expiration of Title 42. Mayorkas stated that illegal border crossings were down 50 percent in the days following the end of Title 42. Sure they were, down from a daily record-breaking 10,000 people a day, not counting “gotaways.” Also factoring into that decrease was more enforcement on the other side of the border from Mexico, Texas National Guard troops and Dept. of Public Safety officers blocking entry, and more illegal immigrants going to official points of entry into the U.S.

While Mayorkas patted himself on the back over the “extraordinary” job the Biden administration had done on the border, despite the record amount of drug smuggling, human trafficking, and suspects on the terror watch list coming across the border, the U.S. has a far bigger threat. During an appearance on MSNBC, also on Sunday, Mayorkas stated that the biggest threat to America is…wait for it…white supremacy. He stated to host Johnathan Capehart:

It tragically is. And the terrorism context, domestic violent extremism is our greatest threat right now. Individuals are driven to violence because of ideologies of hate, anti-government sentiment, false narratives, personal grievances. Regrettably, we have seen a rise in white supremacy. The principal under lying our work is that when one community is targeted, Jonathan, when one community is targeted, we as a country are targeted.

So one might wonder, just what was V.P. and border czar Harris doing as thousands of illegal immigrants were pouring across the border, and hundreds were on buses, on their way to the nation’s capital, more specifically, to be dropped off right near her home? On Friday, Harris was the headliner at the “Spring Soiree,” a Democrat party fundraiser in Atlanta. She was there, of course, to find the “root causes” of illegal immigration.
