Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-14) finds himself in something of a pickle this week, as he attempts to counter multiple sexual assault/harassment accusations from women amid the Democrat primary in a run for the California governorship. The stories broke on Friday, with the first story coming from a former staffer who claims Swalwell twice sexually assaulted her.

Later on Friday, CNN exclusively reported on more allegations, including sexually-explicit texts and other unwanted advances by Swalwell toward at least three other women.

Report: California Dems in Disarray As Former Staffer Accuses Swalwell of Twice Sexually Assaulting Her

Earlier on Saturday, as RedState wrote, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL-13) wrote on social media that she plans on filing a motion in the House to expel the congressman. This comes in the wake of prominent Democrats, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries calling for Swalwell to leave the governor's race, but stopping short of urging him to leave his seat in Congress.

On Saturday, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office announced it has launched an investigation into a sexual assault allegation against Rep. Swalwell, according to multiple outlets:

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said on Saturday it is investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Rep. Eric Swalwell, a day after CNN reported that a former staffer for the congressman accused him of having sex with her when she was unable to consent.

In a statement to CNN, the DA's office said, “We urge survivors and anyone with knowledge of these allegations to contact our Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373.”

It continued: “Our specially trained prosecutors, investigators and counselors are well-equipped to help you in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered manner.”

CNN notes in its story linked above that the woman is one of four accusers:

The former staffer told CNN that she was heavily intoxicated after a night of drinking with Swalwell in New York City in April 2024 when she woke up to him having sex with her in his hotel bed.

“I was pushing him off of me, saying no,” the woman told CNN of the incident, which she said happened after she had stopped working in Swalwell’s office. “He didn’t stop.”

Swalwell and attorneys representing him have denied all allegations.

This is a developing story. RedState will provide more information as it becomes available.
