RedState just shared a breaking story on Saturday, with President Trump issuing an ultimatum to Nigeria's government to protect Christians, or the U.S. will end foreign aid and/or take care of the terrorists ourselves through military action.
The president wrote:
If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, “guns-a-blazing,” to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!

Any time we begin to see signs that culture is moving politics in a conservative direction, that's worth highlighting--even when that movement might seem to come from an unexpected messenger. This is one of those times, and it's relevant to the horrors being reported in Nigeria.
Nicki Minaj, one of the top-selling rap artists over the past decade and a devout Christ-follower, took to her X account early Saturday morning to thank President Trump for standing up and pledging to stop Christians from being persecuted and slaughtered in a genocide in Nigeria.
The president made the announcement on Friday via his Truth Social account, as my colleague streiff wrote:
President Trump announced Friday that he is designating Nigeria as a "country of particular concern" because of the ongoing slaughter of Christians and the government's unwillingness to take action to prevent it. Using Truth Social for the announcement, President Trump condemned the atrocities.
Trump wrote:
"Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN” — But that is the least of it. When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done! I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me. The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other Countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!"

Here's what the singer wrote, in a post quoting Pres. Trump's Friday message:
Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God.

Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice.
Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously.
God bless every persecuted Christian.
Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.
In response, U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz offered Minaj an open invitation to visit the U.S. Embassy in New York, while acknowledging how vital someone with her influence in the culture is in spreading the word on the genocide:
Ambassador Mike Waltz invites Nicki Minaj to the U.S. Embassy and thanks her for using her platform to raise awareness about what’s happening to Christians.❤️✝️@NICKIMINAJ @michaelgwaltz

“If you ever find yourself in New York, come by the US Embassy to the United Nations. I would love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world.”
But the reaction from her fans was less than charitable, which is an understatement.
They showed their displeasure that she... spoke in support of Trump.
‘Nicki Minaj really managed to disappoint me over and over again since last year. Sometimes her choices and the way she acts is just insane Supporting Donald Trump is crazy,’ a fan tweeted.
“Millions of families can’t feed their families today due to this government shutdown & Nicki Minaj using her platform to praise Donald Trump. What a weird a** b***h !” another fan wrote.
As Christians we should use this as an example of taking opportunities where we find them, and to be inspired to continue holding tight to our beliefs and not be shaken by criticism when it matters.
As streiff added in his piece on Trump's Friday statement:
The line in President Trump's message that caught my eye was "We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!" I don't know what "ready" and "willing" look like.
Now, we have a much better idea what those words mean. Since this is a quickly developing story, RedState will provide updates as events warrant.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
