Kaine and the Democrats Are 100 Percent Positive Their New Winning Election Strategy Is Foreign Policy

Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) appeared on "Fox News Sunday" with host Shannon Bream this morning and right out of the chute, he was asked to react to President Trump's national security and defense teams pulling off a successful bombing mission Saturday, which severely damaged, based on initial reports, three of the Iranians' nuclear sites.

Kaine told Bream that this is exactly like Iraq and the Gulf War, then worked in a talking point he had ready to go about a member of the Trump administration. [emphasis added]

"… Look, America was lied into a war in 2002 against Iraq with a Republican administration giving us false information about Iraq’s weapons program," he said. "I have grave concern that we’re going down the same path. Donald Trump’s own national security officials have stated that Iran was not close to having a nuclear weapon.”

Does Kaine actually believe this? It's unclear, but notice where he tried to trick the host into letting him talk about the DNI Tulsi Gabbard fake news, some audacious, Democrat water-carrying the media took on late last week (Friday), and the White House and Gabbard herself already disposed of. His talking points are already stale.

Earlier in the segment, Bream brought up the senator's War Powers resolution, which he introduced last week in hopes of it getting a vote by the upper chamber sometime this week.

Kaine, who serves on the Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees in the Senate, pointed back to a previous resolution - which he says he also filed - claiming that it and previous Senate actions back up his contention:

The Senate has already ruled that the 2001 AUMF does not cover action against Iran … It’s clear that there is no congressional authorization for Trump’s war against Iran. And I have filed a resolution that I think will get a vote later this week.

I'm going to read into this a little bit, readers. His narrative, apparently concocted in consultation with Chuck "TACO Trump" Schumer (whom my colleague at sister site Townhall, Rebecca Downs, shared a timely flashback on at the link) appears to be that the Dems will try to make the bombing of Iran's nuke facilities/foreign policy a new campaign issue for their candidates. Hear Sen. Kaine's obvious glee in the next part.

"We will have all members of the Senate have to declare whether or not the U.S. should be at war with Iran," he said, adding that what the president has done is "unconstitutional."

It's obvious at this point that the Dems are out of ideas, a record player with a broken needle treading the same worn-out slab of vinyl, spinning ad nauseum. In Sunday's song, Kaine waxed on about the failed nuclear deal that "Trump tore up" in 2019, and waving away the fact that Iran has never allowed full inspection access to the IAEA. On that last point, kudos are in order for Fox News' Shannon Bream, who kept trying in vain throughout the interview to get Kaine to listen to facts.

Kaine was perpetually losing Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's vice presidential pick, some might remember. We need to be thanking God that he never got close to serving in the White House and being responsible for this nation's safekeeping. What a disaster!

Anyway, Democrats are the party of failure and capitulation in foreign affairs, as we have seen for decades now. They are welcome to try to make the counterargument, but they are not able to make up their own facts. I say, good luck with that.

Oh, and there's always a future Nobel Peace Prize.

Speaking of records... Because it's still the weekend, this golden oldie from my childhood seems appropriate:
