It's official. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) can claim the top spot on the ballot in the Republican primary for Colorado's 4th Congressional District seat, after garnering over 40 percent of the vote at the district's assembly meeting on Friday.

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s name will be first on the June 25 Republican primary ballot in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District after she won the district’s GOP nominating assembly Friday.

Boebert won 41% of the delegate vote, enough to prevent former state Sen. Ted Harvey of Highlands Ranch from appearing on the ballot. He received about 26% of the delegate vote, but needed 30% to make the ballot.

Boebert addressed the delegates before the vote:

In a fiery speech to the 4th District nominating assembly delegates, Boebert on Friday invoked her faith and her endorsement from former President Donald Trump.

“If you are going to fight the good fight of faith, then you better be ready for that battle,” Boebert said. “I’m honored to have President Trump’s endorsement and honored even more to have your support.”

She also talked about her work in Washington.

“It takes force to get something done. And when I’m up there, I sure ain’t quiet,” she said. “Telling them what Colorado needs and how to deliver your tax dollars back to Colorado. Securing infrastructure and water projects supporting our farmers and ranchers.”

She also spoke about her recent health scare, undergoing an emergency surgery for a blood clot:

I said ‘I don’t care if I have to go to that assembly on a stretcher. I had a lot of folks in D.C. tell me, ‘Hey, here’s your out, you had surgery. You don’t have to go, it’s not worth the risk.’ Well, I politely told them to shove it.

The full post reads:

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is the only candidate at CD4 assembly to receive more than 30% of the votes. No more ballots will take place.

Richard Holtorf and Jerry Sonnenberg received more than 10% which means if their petitions are approved by the SofS, their names will appear on the Primary ballot.

Ted Harvey did NOT get petition signatures so  his campaign is over.

Keep in mind that this is a new district for Rep. Boebert, who represents the 3rd District. This seat only opened up with incumbent Rep. Ken Buck announcing early retirement in March:

Boebert currently represents the 3rd Congressional District in western Colorado but is choosing to run in Buck’s district — the 4th Congressional District in eastern Colorado — to avoid a repeat of last cycle’s expensive House race. Boebert has also said she’s looking for a fresh start since finalizing the divorce with her ex-husband.

Buck announced in November that he would not be seeking another term in the House, opening up his seat. But he threw in a curveball last month when he announced he would be retiring early, setting up a special election to fill the remainder of his term.

Former state Sen. Ted Harvey, who was considered the favorite but failed to make the ballot, expressed optimism that Boebert would win, telling the Colorado Sun, "I think Lauren is the odds-on favorite after coming out of here with 40%.” And it's even better news than that. As the district is considered deep red, whoever wins the Republican primary will likely win in November.
