The Los Angeles Police Department wrote in a statement:
We responded to the 1800 block of Blue Sail Rd for a death investigation on a male 4:10 pm this afternoon. He was in his 50s.
As we shared at the time, during the promotion of his memoir about his career and overcoming drug addiction in 2022, the actor took what many considered a cheap shot at fellow actor Keanu Reeves. Perry would later apologize for what he said.

More details are surfacing about the circumstances surrounding Matthew Perry's death ... as sources tell us he actually died at his own house after some physical activity this morning.
We're told Matthew came home sometime in the AM after a 2-hour round of pickleball, and that he sent his assistant out on errand shortly thereafter. We're told when the assistant returned about 2 hours later, he discovered Matthew unresponsive ... and called 911.
Unclear if what Matthew was doing before his passing played any role in his death at this point -- the investigation into his death is underway.
UPDATE [9:51 p.m. EDT]: The Los Angeles Times confirms the report of Perry's death, via law enforcement sources.
“Friends” star Mathew Perry was found dead Saturday in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home, law enforcement sources said.
Authorities responded about 4 p.m. to his home, where he was discovered unresponsive. The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing, did not cite a cause of death. There was no sign of foul play, the sources added.
