Someone who has been at the forefront of fighting against the Biden administration's onerous COVID mandates is Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who decried the heavy hand of the federal government imposing restrictions on the American people during the pandemic.
My colleague at sister site Townhall, Katie Pavlich, wrote earlier about his pushback, which led to a congressional lawsuit filed against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in March 2022 over the administration's travel mask mandate, which forced everyone to mask in federal buildings, on airplanes, trains, and inside the stations for all public forms of transportation:
In March 2022, Massie and sixteen other Republican Congressmen filed a lawsuit to end the Biden administration's mask mandate.
"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not have the legal authority to force people traveling on commercial airlines to wear masks," Massie said at the time. "Congress never passed a law requiring masks on commercial flights. This lawsuit targets the faceless bureaucrats who are behind the CDC's unscientific regulation so that this illegal mask mandate can be brought to a permanent end."
On April 19, 2022, the mandate was struck down by U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, but later vacated after President Biden declared the pandemic was over.
Now, Rep. Massie says he will refile the Republicans' suit "immediately," if the CDC moves to reimpose masking on public transportation and inside federal buildings:
Spoke with my lawyer today: if Biden reinstates the federal mask mandate on airplanes, I’ll refile our lawsuit immediately.https://t.co/8QOLgdWnHB

This comes in the wake of reports of rising COVID cases in the U.S., as we inch closer to the fall and winter seasons, and President Joe Biden's wife Jill being diagnosed with it in recent days. Pres. Biden, however, tested negative, though as we reported, his exposure to someone known to have COVID didn't stop him from flaunting the basic rules about social distancing, etc., in both word and deed.
You can read Massie's full statement here, or at the link in the tweet above. And we'll provide additional updates on the lawsuit as we get them, so check back.
