When I was a little boy, long before the fast lanes of Interstates, we lived in the country on a major two-lane highway made of bricks. It was a busy road, except during winter blizzards in that snow belt when the only things moving through the deep snow were farmers' tractors.
There were many juvenile times, especially on mid-summer days like these, when it was just too hot and too humid to do much of anything after chores. Air-conditioning back then was something for movie theaters.
Lying on the thick field grass or sitting in the old cherry tree, I could enjoy three of my favorite pastimes: Watch the clouds take and change shapes. Listen to the many bird calls and attempt to lure them into conversations by whistling back.
And watch the big semi-tractor trailers lumber past. I wondered where they were going and what they were carrying. A few blasted their air horns in response to my waves.
I thought I wanted to drive one of those monsters over the road for a career, on the move all the time, moving important stuff around, and seeing new places and countrysides every day.
One summer's job I got to load them eight hours a day. It was warm and stuffy in there. I never understood how those drivers could back them into the loading dock so smoothly and perfectly. I still don't understand it, and I guess I never will cause I never drove one.
So, I was horrified to learn last year that one of them had killed an entire family in their car when he attempted an illegal U-turn on an Interstate. Turns out, the driver was an illegal alien, one of the millions admitted into the country by the worst president in a long time, Joe Biden.
Biden himself is off somewhere while a hired hand writes the ex-president's memoir. The publication has been pushed back from September to later in November. That way the revolting refreshed memory of that man will come after the midterms, when his Democrat Party hopes to put an end to the political fortunes of Trump by seizing congressional control.
That truck driver did not speak English. He could not read signs. But he had a CDL, a commercial driver's license allowing him to maneuver one of those 53-foot-long leviathans at high speed cross-country.
It seems a number of sympathetic blue states, in order to help these poor immigrants who came here of their own accord or perhaps simply to defy the despised Trump Administration, are handing out hundreds of CDLs to illegal immigrants, even some who failed the tests.
So, now these unqualified people are roaming the highways, often ignorant of the traffic rules and unable to read signs. And their accidents, many of them fatal for innocent people, have become a tragic epidemic. My RedState colleague Becky Noble chronicled one such recent death here.
Border Czar Tom Homan and his dedicated teams across the country are trying to identify these illegal drivers who are illegal immigrants to get them off the roads before they kill more. But some states (you might guess the politics there) are refusing to share official driver records, which means they are purposely endangering countrymen.

Such it was with the latest chapter that involved blocking Maine's two-term governor from seeking to challenge GOP incumbent Sen. Susan Collins in what appears to be a propitious climate for Dem gains in Congress.
Instead, Democrats elected and backed Graham Platner, proud wearer of a Nazi tattoo, harasser of females, serial sexter of women not his wife, and, most recently, accused on the record of rape. So, I tried to disassemble that clumsy episode to explain how a major political party can go so loony.
