If you’re no female dog but would like to be, there is hope. A Utah liberal arts school has made that clear.

Westminster College is located in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints mecca of Salt Lake City. Though some may think of the area as socially conservative, there’s plenty of modernity going ’round. And in May, forward-thinking students can find their inner ferociously-fanged feminist.

A Summer ’23 course is catalogued like so:

COMM#300ZZ How to Be a Bitch

Requisites: None
Locations: On Campus, Online

Per the description at WestminsterCollege.edu, How to Be a Bitch will take on tough questions:

(Re)framing the Realities of Women in Leadership

What does the media teach us about women (or gender) and leadership, aggression and behavior? What does interpersonal and organizational communication teach us?

“Why are words like ‘bitch’ and ‘bossy’ so interesting yet problematic?” the listing asks. “Are they a badge or a burden?”

Attendees are invited to uncrate something iconic:

Come unpack Bitch and its related adjectives to figure out what you want to embrace and what we wish would go away.

It’s a curious addition to the academic landscape. As of 2023, being a B-word comes with instructions. Surely many have been accused of writing the book on it; perhaps now, someone actually has.

You may have a friend or family member who doesn’t need the course. But for those who do, it’s ripe for the taking. And if the price is too high, an auditing option is offered.

Presumably, Salt Lake City will subsequently be home to more bossy b*tches by autumn. While the impact is difficult to predict, the town and its state are no strangers to leading the country in contemporary ways:

Back to being a witch with a capital “B,” there are non-college means by which to educate oneself. In fact, a 2014 YouTube video illustrates a test of sorts. Interested parties can discover whether they’re of the “basic” or “bad” variety.

B*tchiness has soared in recent years; on Amazon, books abound:

And for those aiming to improve their lives by honing their B-word craft and upping their B-word quotient, a summer of enlightenment at Westminster College awaits.
