More Than 50 Members of Congress Demand Biden Take a Cognitive Test, but What if He Fails?

Do you believe Joe Biden needs a cognitive check? If so, it’s something you have in common with Dr. Ronny Jackson — White House physician during the Trump and Obama years.

Now a Republican representative for Texas’s 13th district, Dr. Ronny has helmed a letter petitioning the President to get tested.

Posted Wednesday, the letter opens thusly:

Dear President Biden,
We again write to you to express concern with your current cognitive state and to urge you to submit to a cognitive test immediately. We believe that, regardless of gender, age, or political party, all Presidents should follow the example set by former President Trump to document and demonstrate sound mental abilities. While you underwent your annual physical exam on November 19, 2021, you either did not face a cognitive test or those results were withheld from the public. White House Physician Kevin O’Connor, D.O., attested to you being “fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency” in a very superficial and purely physical manner; however, we are worried about your mental abilities.

As noted in the petition, members of Congress have sent two other such missives since Joe’s inauguration (neither garnered a response).

And while time ticks, Americans continue to lose faith in the President’s capacity to “effectively and competently handle [his] duties as President of the United States.”

The letter points Biden to recent polling data:

66 percent of voters believe that you should take a cognitive test.
56 percent of voters are not confident that you are physically and mentally fit for your duties as President, representing a 29-point change from October 2020.
64 percent of voters believe you have shown signs that you are too old to execute the duties of the President of the United States, including 60% of respondents aged 65 and older.
Only 33 percent of voters approve of the job that you have done as President.

Dr. Ronny notes Joe “brushed aside” the previous pleas as partisan.

But:

[T]he left-leaning New York Times recently published an article outlining all of this in great detail. According to [the outlet], the increased scrutiny surrounding your cognitive state has been fueled by your recent public appearances, during which you shuffle your feet when you walk, often slur your words, lose your train of thought, have trouble summoning names, and appear momentarily confused.
All of this was exemplified during your most recent trip to the Middle East, where you claimed that we must “keep alive the truth and honor of the Holocaust,” among other things.

The letter recounts other incidents which “are extremely concerning and cast doubt” on Biden’s ability to serve in his position.

Joe has certainly shown himself to be aberrated, but it isn’t something that first appeared post-election. His performance has fallen in line with what many doubtlessly expected. What we now commonly see with the Commander-in-Chief, surely his handlers — and, perhaps, even he himself — anticipated.

Bottom line: We went into this with our eyes wide open.

Will the President submit to a test? It seems doubtful. Furthermore, it’s veritably certain that no modern administration would release any negative news if such a test were to be failed. And if the results were announced as positive, critics wouldn’t believe them.

Even so, a whole lot of legislators are on board with the letter: Per Fox News, 54 House Republicans have signed it. That’s 13 more signatures than graced the one in June of 2021, and 27 more compared to last February’s attempt.
