Pelosi: The House Needs More Security Due to a Violence-Threatening 'Enemy Within'

Politics never pauses.

On Thursday, California Rep. Nancy Pelosi called for supplemental security.

And why? It sounds as if someone might get triggered.

As relayed by The Daily Caller, the Speaker announced she’s working on a way to protect her peers from Colt-carryin’ congresspeople.

Here’s how Pelosi put it:

“I do believe — and I have said this all along — that we will probably need…more security for members when the enemy is within the House of Representatives, a threat that members are concerned about in addition to what is happening outside.”

To hear Nancy tell it, Congress is going all Lord of the Flies:

“It means that we have members of Congress that want to bring guns on the floor and have threatened violence on other members of Congress.”

Therefore, she’s meeting with Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré to work on a plan.

And it’s not solely her idea — over 30 members of the House sent a letter pushing for more protection.

Presumably, the way she and her colleagues will defend themselves against guns…is with guns.

They’ll just be paying other people to carry ’em.

Nancy took the opportunity to attack Donald Trump, insurrectionist.

“This is very, very important. It shouldn’t be. It shouldn’t be that, not only is the President of the United States inciting an insurrection, but keeps fanning the flame, endangering the security of members of Congress to the point that they’re even concerned about members in the House of Representatives being a danger to them.”

To be sure, there’s been talk of some in the GOP possessing pistols.

From the Caller:

Republican Maryland Rep. Andy Harris was discovered with a firearm as he attempted to reach the House Chamber through a metal detector, HuffPost reported last week. Harris was prohibited from entering, and the officer with the metal detector indicated the matter to a security guard.

For Republican North Carolina Rep. Madison Cawthorn, evacuation on January 6th was performed while packing heat.

Per the Smoky Mountain News, he recalled making a break:

“We were starting to be evacuated, and the evacuation route is downstairs. Working with Capitol police, we figured out a way…we could make that more inclusive of the members who have disability problems. I’ve got to hand it to fellow North Carolina congressmen Ted Budd and Richard Hudson. They really helped me. They got me down some steps. They moved a lot of the furniture that was used to barricade different doors so I could get through.

“But because I had to take another route, we didn’t have our Capitol police escort. So there were multiple times we needed to change the route we were taking just to be safe. Fortunately, I was armed, so we would have been able to protect ourselves.”

For many across America, toting a Taurus is a common occurrence — to do and to see.

But go to work like that in New York, and you’ll have served your last crab risotto.

Of course, with regard to government officials, security’s no laughing matter.

Reuters reported on the alleged threat:

“Pelosi did not name names, but earlier in her press conference was asked about newly-elected Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia, who has come under scrutiny this week for online comments she posted before taking office supporting violence against Democrats, including Pelosi. Greene is the first member of Congress to have openly expressed support for the Q-anon conspiracy theory…”

To whatever degree Nancy’s not a fan of Majorie, the feeling appears mutual:

The Republican used the edict to make a point (but Twitter corrected her):

About Marjorie — related to statements she purportedly made about school shootings — Nancy questioned GOP brass for “assigning her to the education committee”:

“What I’m concerned about is the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives… What could they be thinking? Or is thinking too generous a word for what they might be doing?”

The fight continues, as does RedState’s coverage.

Stay tuned for more.
