In pursuit of a proper left-wing position, sometimes you just can’t catch a break.
Actress Debra Messing’s learned that the hard way.
In a tweet last week, the star took a stab at an attack on the President of the United States.
She told the world she hopes Donald Trump goes to jail, and that — she clearly insinuated — he’s raped by lots of inmates.
I’m assuming her immediate surroundings had the impression such a post would get the ol “What’s Not to Like?” approval stamp.
As it turned out, Debra got turned out — as some she might’ve thought were on her side turned on her.
Witness the valiant attempt — complete with standbys “criminal” and “stupid”:
“AMERICA. THIS is a LEADER. @realDonaldTrump, you are a weak, scared, stupid, inept, negligent, vindictive, narcissistic, criminal. I hope you live a long life in prison where you become the most popular boyfriend to the all inmates.”

The video to which she was referring featured German Chancellor Angele Merkel imploring citizens to follow coronavirus rules leading up to Christmas.
So you’ve got “Their country does it better,” “Trump is a narcissistic felon,” and “Rape the enemy.”
Seem like a lock?
Nein — Messing messed up.
As you’ve surely noticed, there’s been a growing trend over the last decade or more to lambast ideas of something not being good as the product of irrational fear.
Deb got called a homophobe — was she saying gay prison sex isn’t good?

One user not only called Debra the “H” word but appeared to assert she’s now complicit in violence:

Poor Deb just keeps getting shot down by presumed-friendly fire.
In July, she condemned Kanye West for taking black votes from Biden.
For that, she was ruled a racist:

She tried to explain how, because Kanye is a black man who likes Donald Trump, it’s not racist. And he’s taking votes…

But perhaps worst of all was in March, when she tweeted genital-themed cupcakes and celebrated women having vaginas.
Some gave her an “F” in Sex:
- “So when are we gonna stop equating genitalia to gender?”
- “I love you so much debra, but this is suuuuper exclusionary of trans women & that’s not cool!!!”
- “I hope u realise this literally excludes trans women..”
- “Love you Debra. But my anatomy doesn’t define me. Nor does the absence of one define trans women. Just saying.”
- “Just a friendly reminder that body parts do not equate gender.”
- “Much love to all women today and everyday. Be fierce!”
- “This is very cool! but lets not erase trans women.”
- “Not all women have vulvas…”
- “If I wanted to hear the opinion of every TERF in the world, this comment section would be the perfect place to do so…”
In response, the lady admitted — women don’t have vaginas:
“I want to apologize to my trans sisters. This photo was supposed to be light, & sassy. The first thing I thought when I saw this photo was “wow how wonderful. Each one is unique in color and shape and size. The porn industry has perpetuated this myth of what a ‘beautiful’ vagina looks like and as a result there are women who feel shame or insecure about the shape of the vulva. I loved that this picture said ‘every single one is beautiful and unique and that’s powerful.’ I did not, however, think ‘but there are innumerable beautiful, unique and powerful women who don’t have a vagina.’ And I SHOULD have. And for that I am so so sorry. Thank you for righting my wrong.”
Likewise, perhaps the men in prison don’t have penises, and Donald Trump wouldn’t be able to be their “boyfriend” in the way she implied.
Either way, as much as Messing admirably tries to score one for her team, it seems it’s very easy to screw herself.
