Across the internet, we’re hearing stories of misery where the coronavirus is concerned, but how about the stories with happy endings?

As I reported earlier this week, an 87-year-old who developed symptoms on a cruise ship and was evacuated by helicopter to a nearby hospital took COVID-19 and showed it who’s boss.

That Vietnam veteran has now tested negative and should be on his way home to San Diego.

And here’s another story of apt recovery, by a celebrated Tinseltown Two, no less.

As relayed Friday by E! News, “Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are coming home.”

The pair were, as you may have heard, in Australia for the filming of an Elvis film, wherein Tom plays Tom — Parker, that is, the King’s long-time manager.

But while in Aussie territory, Hanks and Wilson began to feel All Shook Up.

Well, now they’ve been Returned to Sender — the couple is back in their place of origin, sunny Los Angeles.

They kept fans updated throughout their illness.

Last week, Tom wrote on Instagram, “We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

And:

“We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires.”

At one point, he reminded the world, “Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball.”

Amid posts, the couple had some fun.

I’m glad to see yet one more public display of people getting through the virus.

And as for Forrest Gump and his actress wife, specifically, I’m happy to know they’re okay.

Hollywood could use more of people like ’em — they’ve brought joy to the country through entertainment, and they’ve never come across as nuts.
