Was socialist Bernie Sanders “embarrassed” to be in first class?

Judge for yourself.

On Wednesday, a man posted to social media a photo — which, so far, is receiving validation from several blue-check tweeters — of Bernie sitting in first class with a hilariously peculiar look on his face.

Did he not wanna be outed as an elitist?

Why not? The guy’s a known multi-millionaire.

Do his average-joe supporters believe he’s like them?

He ain’t.

There’s a hump in politics that I can’t seem to ever scale, and that’s the absurdity of rich people trying to market themselves as poor.

It seems stupid to me, for three reasons:

  1. Longtime congresspeople (a description befitting many a presidential candidate) are famously rich, so it makes the person appear completely disingenuous.
  2. Being wealthy shouldn’t be a source of shame; economic success is at the heart of the American Dream.
  3. Who wants a financial failure put in charge of the government? If you’re someone who built an empire, I find that to be a plus. The government, at its core, is the money manager of America.

Plus — as you know — not only are those on Capitol Hill wealthy, but they live lives bolstered by stunning perks supplemental to their net worth.

But perhaps Bernie, who’s not trying to sell America on his Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous mojo, would rather people think he flies in the luggage compartment. With an oxygen mask and a coat.

Yet, here’s he is, all Mr. Rockefeller:

Tweeter Hank Thomas did follow up the photo with some context:

And Hank ain’t mad:

Whatever the realities of Bernie’s attitude immortalized in a fantastically-framed photo, the image is definitely comical.

So what are your thoughts? Might Bernie have wanted to keep his class warfare position of First on the down-low?

Did you laugh at the image?

Either way, Bern’s still a peasant to a princess compared to Elizabeth Warren (net worth: $12 million). Here’s the Indian woman getting off a private jet in Iowa — and maintaining a peculiarly perfect position as she walks, keeping someone else’s head between her and the camera’s line of sight:

I have a message for both Bern and Beth: The cat’s out of the bag, and we don’t care — you’re rich. If you want the votes of a whole lot of hard-working Americans, illustrate how you can help us get rich, too — by allowing us the freedom to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Without a growing government making that more and more difficult.

While we wait, enjoy some of the comments to Hank’s post:
