You know who’s really friendly? People chanting “Death to America.”
So explained CNN’s Erin Burnett in the wake of the drone strike that took out major Iranian terrorism and military figure Qasem Soleimani.
Erin broke it down on her Erin Burnett OutFront program while interviewing Republican Ohio Rep. Mike Turner.
As Mike noted — and as you’re likely to have heard — Iran’s been busy with some aggression of its own:
“Even on your network, we’ve seen the video of the prior attack that’s happened on the Baghdad embassy. We all watched the flames and smoke boiling out of the embassy in Baghdad as a result of the attack that occurred there.”
Yes, we did.
Were the flames a friendly fire?
After hearing Iranians chanting "DEATH to America" @CNN's @ErinBurnett says they were "friendly" and didn't mean it.
WHAT?!?
And some wonder why people don't trust the media? pic.twitter.com/WRI7aibOwO

Back to Mike, he observed an obvious fact — Iran isn’t a fan of the Stars and Stripes:
“So, I don’t think reporting or even speculating on what Iran has been threatened – I mean, you know, Iran itself continues to have even its entire parliament chant ‘death to America’. It’s not as if it’s a surprise that Iran has been coordinating and targeting American interests throughout the Middle East.”
But Erin countered. The people hoping for the murder of our homeland are actually disarmingly affable:
“Well, I will say, I was in Tehran when they were chanting ‘Death to America’ once. I was at a rally — the people couldn’t have been more friendly to me personally as an American.”
Other than their expressed wish for her mortal end?
It appears Erin thinks, ahhh, they were just sayin’ that. Those sweeties were probly just joshin’ Stop bein’ so touchy:
“It sort of felt like a thing and a trope as opposed to anything that was actually seriously meant and considered. I understand your point, but my experience was different.”
How was her experience that different if they were verbally requesting her extermination?
Mike sought to explain:
“Erin, your entire life, Iran – pretty much your entire life, just by a few years — has chanted ‘Death to America,’ and they have taken actions against Americans and American interests and in ways that are lethal, killings of Americans, given weaponry to people who do kill Americans.”
That seems a pretty thorough job, Mike.
Some on social media chimed in, too:
Has to be the absolute dumbest thing I’ve heard an adult say ever! Hey Mary ask the people inside the American Embassy if the people smashing windows tearing down walls were “friendly” and just kiddin didn’t mean it??? You should be ashamed.

Based on her personal experience, when she was there with security detail?

That makes no sense whatsoever. Death to America but the people couldn't have been more friendly? Was she high??

Nooooo, he's friendly! I promise! He only wants to cook us dinner! pic.twitter.com/tH5HuBq17m

Might Erin reconsider?
If I may say so, as someone just watching from the bleachers, all it took for Democrats to transform the planet’s biggest sponsor of terror into a Fuzzy Wuzzy was their greater enemy — Trump — attacking them.
Guess it’s an Art of War kind of thing.
Fox Nation host Lara Logan observed the same last week:
“It is kind of depressing. I’ve been a journalist for more than 30 years, and I’ve never seen anything like it. … If Obama had taken him out, there would be…celebrations — ‘Obama is a genius.’ But since it’s Trump, they want to mobilize the Soleimani assassination against Trump. [T]hey are, in a way, willing to go into bed with the far enemy to defeat the near enemy, who is a greater threat to their agenda here at home.”
It’s strange bedfellows; but then again, these are strange times.
