On Thursday, Senators Ted Cruz and Bill Cassidy introduced a resolution to formally label violent pro-fascism group Antifa a domestic terrorist organization.
It should be noted: That’s exactly what they are.
A catalyst for the move — though it wasn’t needed — was the Tacoma, Washington attack of a border detention center, wherein 69-year-old Willem Van Spronsen appeared with a rifle and tried to ignite a large propane tank.
Now-deceased Willem did manage to set fire to a car, and far-left Twitterers — twits for short, if you will) hailed him a martyr and a hero (here-o)
Another recent Antifa assault: The beating of conservative journalist Andy Ngo in Portland, which reportedly left him with a bleeding brain (here).
Ted Cruz explained via tweet:
“Antifa is a terrorist organization composed of hateful, intolerant radicals who pursue their extreme agenda through aggressive violence. Time and time again their actions have demonstrated that their central purpose is to inflict harm on those who oppose their views. Like any terrorist organization they choose to pursue their political ends through violence, fear & intimidation. They must be stopped. I’m proud to introduce this resolution w @SenBillCassidy to properly identify what Antifa are: domestic terrorists.”

Yes, they are.
And fascists.
Mr. Cassidy of Louisiana offered his own social media statement:
“Antifa is a domestic terror organization. This is a group of hateful, intolerant radicals pursuing their extreme agenda through violence. They are masked bigots, attacking others b/c they don’t agree with their ideas. The time to stop Antifa is NOW!”

On Bill’s official site, he notes the goofiness of having an ironic name:
“Antifa are terrorists, violent masked bullies who ‘fight fascism’ with actual fascism, protected by Liberal privilege.”
The resolution contains 5 points:
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the Senate—
(1) calls for the groups and organizations across the country who act under the banner of Antifa to be designated as domestic terrorist organizations;
(2) unequivocally condemns the violent actions of Antifa groups as unacceptable acts for anyone in the United States;
(3) expresses the need for the peaceful communication of varied ideas in the United States;
(4) urges any group or organizations in the United States to voice its opinions without using violence or threatening the health, safety, or well-being of any other persons, groups, or law enforcement officers in the United States; and
(5) calls upon the Federal Government to redouble its efforts, using all available and appropriate tools, to combat the spread of all forms of domestic terrorism, including White supremacist terrorism.
That’s all fine and good. But the reality is that none of this should be necessary. True — the U.S. can’t have a bunch of black-masked goons running around committing assault and arson. But we already have a “resolution” for that: It’s called law enforcement; court; prison. A system to prevent violent fascism is already in place. None of these hooligans should’ve been allowed to do what they’ve done, from the outset.
And if city and state officials aren’t willing to stop them now, because they haven’t been willing to stop them yet, how will a resolution make a difference?
The scenario reminds me of Alyssa Milano’s Christmas gift to the world — wherein she forgot there are police (here).
Thus far, it seems authorities and the media have sat back and allowed the fascism of Antifa to rule any street upon which they’ve decided to idiot.
Don Lemon’s given them a pass (here), and if you need a reminder of the insanity, please, please watch this interview.
The issue of Antifa isn’t about Left or Right, Democrat or Republican; it’s about liberty and public safety.
The government needs a resolution, alright, but not the congressional kind. It needs the resolve to stop the insane fascism of violence in the public square, regardless of who’s committing it.
