Talk about a strong comeback.

On Tuesday, New York Times writer attacked Rep. Dan Crenshaw over his dubious support for the 9/11 Victims Compensation.

Word to the wise: It’s not really a good idea to attack Dan Crenshaw. He seems to be the quite the Comeback King.

Also, the dude’s an eye-patched former Navy Seal war hero. An assault on him will always make you look like a crappy person.

But Wajahat Ali doesn’t care what I think. Hence, the following tweet, in response to Jon Stewart’s recent condemnation (to Shepherd Smith) of congresspeople failing “to ensure that a victims’ compensation fund set up after the 9/11 attacks won’t run out of money — and for skipping a hearing devoted to that very crisis.”

So here’s what Wajahat had to say. I mean, chirp:

Reading Wajahat’s post, I’m wincing as if I’ve just heard a man reply with anything other than “Absolutely not” to “Does this dress make me look fat?”

My eyes are squinting. My nose is crinkling.

Here comes Dan, and it’s a rough one.

So what’s his response to a question of whether he wants to support victims of terrorism?

It’s this. Buckle up, Wajahat.

He wrote, “Hey ‘journalist,’ maybe you should check your facts. I am a co-sponsor. Nice try though.”

But here’s the powerful reveal:

Yikes.

That’s a scan of the injury Dan sustained from a bomb while fighting terrorism in the Middle East.

On Dan’s third deployment in 2012, his life changed forever. After six months of combat operations, Dan was hit by an IED blast during a mission in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was evacuated and awoke from his medically induced coma learning that his right eye had been destroyed in the blast and his left eye was still present, but badly damaged. Dan was completely blind and the doctors did not believe he would ever see again. Tara stood by him every day and night, keeping faith and praying he would see again. After several difficult surgeries, he eventually regained sight in his left eye, a miracle according to the head surgeon. Dan refused to quit and went on to deploy twice more, first back to the Middle East in 2014 and then South Korea in 2016.

Yeah. Don’t mess with Dan Crenshaw.
