We're at 'Cat 5 Hurricane' Status: White House May Use Military to Stop the Illegal Immigration Crisis

On Tuesday, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told Tucker Carlson the White House is addressing America’s illegal immigration crisis as a “Cat 5 hurricane disaster.”

And incorporating military force is a logical next step.

Kirstjen explained that the administration is culling from all agencies of government:

“We are bringing all of the agencies together; we’re asking everybody to chip in. “

Tucker inquired about the people we hire to kill people and break things:

“Why wouldn’t we put the U.S. military along our border if it’s really a crisis of that magnitude?”

She said we’re pretty much gonna:

“I think we’re looking into that. We’ve made the request. I’m in constant contact with the acting secretary of defense. I talked to some of the combatant commanders today. We are in fact pushing more and more military resources to the border.”

In addition to discontinuing aid to El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala, last week, Trump promised to close parts of the border if Mexico doesn’t stop illegal immigrants from coming into the U.S. (see more about that eyebrow-raiser here).

And on Tuesday, Trump tossed out this one:

“We’re going to have a strong border, or we’re going to have a closed border.”

Kirstjen said nothin’s out of the question, including using the E-Verify system to deal with employers who hire illegal immigrants.

They’re goin’ kitchen sink on this one:

“We have to stop the drugs. We have to stop the smuggling and trafficking gangs. He’s very serious about it, so yes, I think everything is on the table.”

Even former Obama officials agree there’s a problem at the border — on Cavuto LIVE Saturday, former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson reported “there were 4,000 apprehensions in one day alone this past week, and we’re on pace for 100,000 apprehensions on our southern border this month.”

That blew Jeh’s mind:

“That is by far a greater number than anything I saw on my watch in my three years as secretary of Homeland Security.”

And why does Kirstjen wanna stop the influx? Because, in part — despite what many Democrats have claimed — of this:

“It is a crime to come illegally between ports of entry. … [M]any of the people coming are economic migrants. They are not truly seeking asylum. … [M]any of them have been given magic words to come in and to get a job and take that job away from an American.”

Kirstjen claimed border arrests could exceed 1 million this year.

Thus continues the hurricane.
