4 Months in, Bill Cosby's Family Hasn't Visited Him in Prison. And He Doesn't Want Them To. Ever.

Well; this is surprising.

According to a story by the Associated Press, Bill Cosby’s family has yet to visit him in prison.

Cosby, who’s now 81, hasn’t seen Camille — his wife of more than half a century — or their daughters in four months. Furthermore, Andrew Wyatt, Bill’s spokesman, said the disgraced comedian doesn’t expect to.

Dr. Huxtable’s new home-behind-bars — the SCI-Phoenix in Collegeville, Pennsylvania — sits only 20 miles from the family estate in Philadelphia.

Yet, Wyatt, who visits the iconic entertainer regularly, explained that the Picture Pages patriarch doesn’t want his family there:

“He doesn’t want to have them in that environment. Why put them in that position, to make it turn into some form of a circus?”

Cosby was moved to the prison’s general population last week after spending a third of a year in special accommodations allowing him to acclimate to prison. He now lives in a two-story, single-cell dwelling at the brand new penitentiary.

Bill’s fall from grace, for me, was painful. I’d been a fan my whole life — from his appearances on Captain Kangaroo, to the silly and joyous Jell-O commercials, to the absolute television revolution that was The Cosby Show. Additionally, I knew and loved Cosby from his legendary Himself comedy film, his Disney movie The Devil and Max Devlin, and comedy album classics such as To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With.

I still can’t fully comprehend the sudden turn of his legacy. I do believe, despite other deeds, his work stands on its own. There was happiness in much he brought to the world, and — it seems to me — there is no need for us to lose those things which made our lives better, irrespective of his life and the way he lived it.
