To quote RedState’s resident wizard, streiff, “Ron DeSantis Continues Cleaning House In Florida’s Elections System.”

Well said, streiff.

Here’s some more mopping:

On Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis reversed another Rick Scott policy; so say Bye to Common Core.

Ron’s executive order calls for Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran to lay out a path to a new educational paradigm.

That’s probably a good thing, since — by seemingly all accounts — Common Core stinks.

Technically, Florida’s latest education approach was called “Florida Standards,” but Fox News reports it was a mildly-tweaked rendition of CC.

Common Core — the stinky system developed by the National Governors Association and Council of Chief State School Officers — was pushed by Jeb Bush due to its “fewer, higher, deeper standards that, when you benchmark them to the best of the world, they are world class.”

Like I said: stinks.

States Fox:

Critics of Common Core, including Tea Party groups, said it would take away local control and dumb down schools. Meanwhile, many parents had trouble understanding some of the teaching methods and found the curriculum confusing, particularly some of the math lessons.

Ron said he heard it stunk, too:

“One of the things we would constantly hear about on the campaign trail was a lot of frustration from parents in particular with this idea of Common Core. When you complained … I heard you. I told you I’d do something about it. And today we are acting to bring promises to reality.”

So there ya go — done. Ron saw a problem, and he solved it. It’s as simple as — for those of you who went to school in Miami between 2011 and 2019 — 1 plus 1 equals 3 7/8.
