Detroit Board of Education Eyes Removing Ben Carson's Name from School

Ben Carson is a successful black man. An independent thinker. A presidential candidate. And the first surgeon to successfully separate siamese twins joined at the head.

Ben Carson should, therefore, be an icon among the Left. What more do your need?

Unfortunately for Ben, of course, despite their many assertions to the contrary, left-wingers don’t actually champion black ascension; rather, they exclusively tout Democratic accomplishment (see more racial ridiculousness here, here, here, and here).

Surely hence, Detroit’s Board of Education may remove the Housing and Urban Development Secretary’s name from a local high school.

To be fair, the board is considering renaming several schools. Currently, the system boasts the Benjamin Carson High School of Science and Medicine.

The school was named for Dr. Carson before he threw his hat into the political ring.

Now, of course, not only is Carson tainted as a Republican, but he’s squarely in the camp of Donald Trump, making him a metaphorical leper among left-wingers.

When the school was named, such decisions were made by a state manager rather than the Board.

Never afraid to attack black people if they’re conservative, Democrats have shamefully derided Carson from the beginning of his presence in the arena of governance. In 2015, the Southern Poverty Law Center, in fact, went so far as to place Ben on its “Extremist Watch List,” which includes white supremacists and Nazis. The reason? Carson is, according to the far-left SPLC, anti-gay.

One piece of evidence the organization cites is from Carson’s book, “America the Beautiful”:

“[I]f we can redefine marriage as between two men or two women or any other way based on social pressures as opposed to between a man and a woman, we will continue to redefine it in any way that we wish, which is a slippery slope with a disastrous ending, as witnessed in the dramatic fall of the Roman Empire.”

Regardless of how Ben is portrayed — or by whom — he’s made clear he’ll stick to his convictions, particularly as it concerns his faith. Though attacked by the Left in January for attending a Bible study (along with other Cabinet Secretaries) at the White House, Ben had this to say:

“One of the principles of our nation’s founding is freedom of religion. I will not stop being a Christian while in service to this country. In fact, it is my faith that helps me serve the nation even better.”

Regardless of whether Detroit continues to honor Carson, he’ll keep schooling liberals on what liberty means. For all men, including those who are black.
