Fingers in Their Ears: The Left Refuse to Acknowledge the Tragedy of Mollie Tibbetts

“You’re impossible.”

It’s a line commonly spoken, in moments of frustration.

And it doesn’t appear wholly inapplicable to the Left.

Recently, 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts was murdered by an illegal alien.

However, the Left can’t seem to address the crime. Mention of it causes them to raise their mirrored shields in order to deflect from any notion of an illegal immigrant committing an atrocity.

As covered previously by RedState’s streiff, Elizabeth Warren was quick to tell CNN that splitting up “mommas and babies” should, rather, be what we’re thinking about — in other words, law enforcement under Trump’s evil empire is doing far worse things to innocent illegals than anything an illegal could do to us. No need to consider Tibbetts’s murder as an example of the possible outcome when a shady character sneaks into the country.

Or, to put it another way:

Tibbetts was jogging in the small community of Brooklyn, Iowa when she was abducted, murdered, dragged into a field, and covered with corn stalks.

What was Stephen King’s reaction to discussion of the heinous act?

“Mollie Tibbetts may well have been killed by an undocumented alien, and that’s a terrible thing. But we might remember that Stephen Craig Paddock was an American citizen. He killed 58.”

So, essentially, “I know you are, but what am I?”

In response to the Manafort and Cohen verdicts Tuesday, MSNBC guest Christina Greer dismissed Tibbetts’s killing with surprising callousness.

“The Republican Party is actually not working on behalf of the American people; they’re working on behalf of Donald Trump. And he’s been able to bully them into their silence, and I don’t think that today changes much, unfortunately. I’m sure we’ll hear what he has to say about this at his rally, but Fox News is talking about a girl in Iowa, and not this.”

So Fox is wasting time on — or, worse, using as a distraction — Tibbetts’s murder?

Left-wing political commentator Sally Kohn had this to say about the slaying:

“On Fox News website, as of 9:02pm tonight: Manafort CONVICTION is #2 story. Cohen PLEA is #3 story. #1 story is about undocumented immigrant who is *SUSPECT* for murder of a white girl. Way to stay predictable, Fox.”

A girl! ‘Cause, remember: we’re not supposed to value women; they’re just women! Hey — wait…#MeToo?

Last year, Kohn claimed in The Washington Post that sexual harassment should be considered a “hate crime.” I guess murder isn’t as bad.

And lamest of all: Tibbetts was white.

So where’s that Manafort story, Fox News? It was there — Fox covered Manafort and Cohen.

When one side of the political aisle will barely recognize the existence of an issue, no fruitful exchange can be had. Perhaps the Left should take their mirror of deflection and hold it up to themselves. And see, for once, that the unsightliness of shutting down discussion — a trait likely to be projected onto the “fascistic” Right — is their own ugliness staring them in the face.
