RedState is here in Cleveland for the Republican convention and we were in the room when the Rules Committee vote broke into chaos earlier, as Leon wrote about here. Eventually, the Deputy Committee Chair called for the “ayes” and “nays” on adopting the Rules committee platform, essentially railroading petitions for a roll call vote and ending any resistance to Donald Trump.
The ayes were drowned out by the nays. Committee Steve Womack called it for ayes anyway. You know, after he was finally able to be heard over the deafening shouts of ROLL CALL VOTE. Thus ended the proposals for changes. Ken Cuccinelli, former VA Attorney General and Virginia delegate, was so diSgusted that this happened.
