Trump Is Touting Imaginary Calls About Imaginary Praise for Awful Performances

I honestly can’t tell at this point if Trump lies because he knows his fawning base will believe anything he says, without question, and it’s just sport for him, or if he lies because of some pathological root.

Either way, it’s a day ending in a “y” so there’s another Trump lie being talked about.

Apparently, after the nonsensical speech Trump delivered to the Boy Scout Jamboree several weeks ago, where he railed on “fake news,” talked about yachts and wild cocktail parties, and got the crowd to boo the mention of former President Barack Obama, Trump felt the need to say during a Wall Street Journal interview that the head of the Boy Scouts of America called to tell him he’d given the “greatest speech” ever made to them.

Yeah. About that…

The organization is now saying they are not aware of any such call being made.

From Time.com:

“The Chief Scout Executive’s message to the Scouting community speaks for itself,” the organization said, referring to a July 27 statement from Michael Surbaugh, the Chief Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, who apologized to anyone in the scouting community who could have been offended or alarmed by the political rhetoric in the speech.

“For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained non-partisan and refused to comment on political matters. We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program,” Surbaugh wrote.

That doesn’t really sound like a statement coming from an organization that was particularly impressed with the rambling, garbled word salad that makes up the typical, self-absorbed Trump speech.

Just to sort of bring things into focus, this is the Boy Scout Oath:

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my Country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Nothing about that seems relatable to Donald Trump.

Well, the words “my,” and “myself” are pretty Trump-specific, but that’s the limit.

Seriously, if Trump can’t control himself and keep his message appropriate for a Boy Scout gathering, and he can’t keep from lying about it afterwards, his public engagements need to be tightly monitored.

And we should also ask ourselves what is actually going on with him.

Indeed.
