from the diaries by Neil
As we debate just how much our government ought to be spending–and where that money should come from–I think it’s a good idea to reflect on the words of Margaret Thatcher on the subject of “public money” (of course, when is listening to Maggie a bad idea?):

Thankfully some are waking up to the MSM telling us who the candidate must be
Scope (Diary) Tuesday, September 27th at 4:25PM EST (link)From IBD the author reminds us how it was the MSM that annointed McCain as our 08 nominee, and the results of that nomination. The MSM, which includes Fox, is now telling us that Romney will be the nominee, so get on his bandwagon or we will have Obama again for 4 more years. There is most definitely a great degree of truth in the MSM choosing the candidate that they know would have a hard time running against Obama, and this year that candidate is Mitt Romney.
Run Sarah Run
macwell (Diary) Tuesday, September 27th at 9:06PM EST (link)Maybe we need someone who, while highly educated, spoke to the common man from her heart. Someone with the guts to take on the corrupt system once and for all. Think about it, does anyone think that this bunch, and I include Christie, cares about destroying the goose that lays GOLDEN eggs? I think not. Sarah Palin has faults, as do we all, but, you can bet that she will tell us exactly what is wrong with DC, and how we the people must fix it. In a weird way, I almost feel sorry for all these drones who work for depts that, day by day, copy, triplicate, edit, reedit, and that’s only after no less than 3 committees have been held, and several studies taken, at great expense. What do you suppose we the people are going to do with them when they have no more depts to work for. I think they’re in for a big surprise in the real world.

Perry is finally getting back to his winning conservative positions
Scope (Diary) Tuesday, September 27th at 9:14PM EST (link)If I’m not mistaken Perry’s original message at the RS gathering was to promote lower taxes (OK every R candidate has supported that), getting rid of onerous federal regulations, and legal reform.
There is an article today with Perry writing a lettr to Obama to please delay the air quality EPA regulations that will kill many small businesses, and not so small businesses with onerous regulations. Fighting the EPA, and other federal government regulators has been a signature with Perry’s presidential race.
Another signature campaign issue, that no other candidate has even touched is Perry’s support of legal reform, against the frivilous lawsuits brought against medical personnel, and small businesses that many times bankrupt those businesses with the slip and fall trial lawyers.
Romney, and his vast support network with the leftist MSM, and now including Fox, have redefined the issues to now being one of illegal immigration. Illegal immigration has been so far down on the list of priorities for voters, and, the economy and jobs has remained the main priority. Yet the MSM has turned the main issue now to illegal immigration.
Perry brought up in one of the debates that Romney, as Governor was unsuccessful in creating jobs in Mass., and had successfully killed 18,000 jobs with his Romneycare legislation. So, Romney and his MSM supporters have successfully taken the eye off the ball of business and job creation records between the two Governors. There have also been reports of Romney actually killing jobs when his Bain capital took over companies, reformatted their business agendas, and killed off jobs in doing so.
Romney can’t stand on his business and job creation record when compared to Perry’s record, so move everyone eyes from the priority of most voters, and move it to something that has not been a priority for the voters for a few years. And so many have gone right along with that nudge to take the eye off the ball, including right here at RedState. How many Romney supporters have been touting his jobs record while Gov., as opposed to falsely defining Romney as superior to Perry on illegal immigration when his record is not any better than Perry’s. And Romney had no reason to be as weak as he was on illegal immigration positions as Gov. as he doesn’t even live in a border state, where the rubber really meets the road.
Christie one of the most popular governors
rkcon Tuesday, September 27th at 10:31PM EST (link)http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/09/gov_chris_christies_approval_i.html
Chris Christie’s approval rating increased drastically: 54-36. These numbers are amazing for a state like New Jersey, they tend to dislike their politicians there.
