Interview With Gov. Tim Pawlenty

I had the opportunity to interview Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty last week for Health Care News, an interview you can listen to here.

The Governor discussed how states can respond to the passage of Obamacare, his decision to opt out of the federal high-risk pools, and how Americans can shift a polarized Washington political scene back toward common sense values. Pawlenty’s response to the passage of President Obama’s health care law and his approach to budget and tax policy are evidence that he has an interesting perspective on policy debates. Both as a potential candidate for the 2012 presidential nomination and as a knowledgeable and successful Midwestern governor, his views on the future of conservatism certainly bear consideration.

SCHIP

I Governor Pawlenty. I don’t know if I can support him in 2012, though. If I recall correctly, he was a supporter of the SCHIP program (he wrote a letter supporting it when it was before Congress).. I don’t want another “compassionate conservative” in 2012. I want a slash-and-burn conservative who will SHRINK the size of government.
