Minnesota used to be known for cheese curds, Juicy Lucy burgers, and great fishing. Well, back in the day, it was. Now it's known for having one of the most inept governors in American history, Tim Walz, and for being ground zero for massive defrauding of various federal welfare programs.
Now, Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) is looking to replace the hapless, befuddled "Great Walz of China" in the governor's chair. She's running on a campaign of rooting out fraud, but as her Republican opponent is now pointing out, Senator Klobuchar seems not to have noticed the massive Minnesota-based fraud while it was actually going on.
A Fox News Digital review found that Klobuchar's Senate office repeatedly issued press releases addressing other forms of fraud between 2022 and 2025, but a review of 1,000 of her official press-release archive found no release directly addressing or offering solutions to fix Minnesota's sprawling social-services fraud scandal or Feeding Our Future.
The $250 million Feeding Our Future scandal, that has ballooned into an overall social services scandal that prosecutors say could total over $9 billion, broke in late January of 2022. In more than 1,000 press releases from Klobuchar’s office from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2025, the Feeding our Future scandal was not mentioned in Klobuchar’s releases, nor were the terms "Minnesota fraud," "social services fraud," "Medicaid fraud," "autism fraud," "Housing Stabilization Services," "child nutrition fraud," "DHS fraud," or "nonprofit fraud."
Senator Klobuchar's opponent, Minnesota Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth, was quick to pounce (hah) on Senator Klobuchar's strange silence on the matter.
"As Feeding Our Future was breaking and all of the fraud that was being talked about, the absent voice that I was noticing was Senator Klobuchar," Minnesota Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth told Fox News Digital in an interview on Friday.
"She with her extended time, twenty years as a senator, could have held hearings but not only did she not hold hearings, the hearing that took place a few months ago about fraud here in the state of Minnesota she didn't even attend and so i think that speaks very loudly to the people of Minnesota that we have a twenty-year senator, the most explosive fraud that has taken place a theft of our tax dollars here and yet, there was no mention."
If the message here is "you can't depend on Democrats to actually take action," then Lisa Demuth nailed it. The fact is, fraud on the scale that happened in Minnesota can't pass without some notice. But Attorney General Keith Ellison seems not to have noticed. Governor Tim Walz seems not to have noticed. Nobody in the Democrat Party in Minnesota seems to have noticed, or perhaps, since so much of the fraud happened in Minneapolis's sprawling Somali community, they were shying away from the inevitable accusations of racism? Because, you know, the only reason the state would have to crack down on people gaming the system for millions of taxpayer dollars is obviously racism.
The whole thing is well past absurd. Now, though, Senator Klobuchar is promising that the Minnesota Democrats will get it right this time, promise! Her campaign now includes the platform plank of "rooting out fraud," that fraud that she seemed to be blissfully unaware of until the Trump administration started digging through what was going on in that land of 10,000 lakes and 84,000 Somalis.
On Friday, I noted that Minnesota's Left, in this election year, is running on the notion that Minnesota should let the same people who broke the state be given the first crack at fixing it. That seems to be Amy Klobuchar's campaign slogan, and the sad thing is that, Minnesota being what it is today, she's liable to win.
We do indeed live in interesting times.
