What is it with communists that they are always grabbing at other people's money? And what is it about this recent crop of "democratic socialists," who don't call themselves commies but who have all the standard markings, that they are almost always livelong marginals before going into politics?
Case in point: One Brian Romero, whose work history seems to be in working as a legislative aide, and who is now expected to win a place in the New York State Assembly. Mr. Romero recently started a GoFundMe, in which he asked for other people to - get this - pay his rent.

He looks to be an awfully cheerful sort, for a guy who can't pay his own rent. Then again, aren't commies always happiest when they are going after other people's money?

A socialist pol who is a shoo-in to represent part of Queens in the state Assembly whipped out his tin cup to beg the public to help pay his personal bills while he waits out the November elections, The Post has learned.
Brian Romero — a former legislative aide hoping to succeed his ex-boss Jessica González-Rojas, who is headed to the State Senate — is already confronting his first self-inflicted budget crisis. The problem isn’t that the rent is too damn high — it’s that he doesn’t have a job to pay it.
He set up a GoFundMe campaign to help pay the bills.
Hah! Guess what happened next:
He said the online solicitation was “to help navigate this next chapter” and will be used to “cover the rest of rent and groceries.”
“The support from friends, colleagues, and community members so far has been overwhelming, and we are deeply grateful,” the pol added.
But he abruptly closed down the online fundraiser Friday afternoon, after The Post started making inquiries.
That's all right. He is, as the Post noted, a shoo-in for the election, as the Republicans aren't even running a candidate, and he comes from a Queens district that would elect a potsherd to the Assembly if it had a "D" after its name.
Here's the thing: This guy, until he ran for office, was banking a six-figure salary as a legislative aide. If I had known being a legislative aide paid that much, I would have looked into it years ago. I mean, how hard could it be? This guy's been doing it. And you're telling me he has nothing set aside? Not a month or two's worth of backup, to keep his bills paid while he seeks an office he's sure to get? Oh, and it's an office where he gets to vote on how the State of New York spends its money?
You just can't make this stuff up.
At least this guy did have a (patronage) job that paid him a decent-enough salary. In that respect he's a notch above Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) who failed as a carpenter's apprentice before entering politics, or his protege, the socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) who was, of all things, a bartender. These people are, so often, lifelong marginals, with no experience in business, no experience in finance, and not much experience in anything except expecting other people to pay their way.
It's always about other people's money. That's just who these folks are.
