Green New Deal for Schools Returns Amid Democratic Infighting

The ongoing internal conflict in the Democratic Party is surely yielding some bizarre fruit. While the old-school liberal wing is contending with the "progressive" and "democratic socialist" wing of the party - the commies - some really bad old ideas are being resurrected.

One of those bad ideas is the Green New Deal, a particularly egregious bit of nitwittery. A new bill in the House of Representatives, spearheaded by Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), is aimed at implementing some Green New Deal policies in the nation's schools.

The environmental and social justice movement behind the Green New Deal is back at the forefront of Democrats' agenda, this time targeting America's education system.

Details of the bill are not immediately available, and Jayapal's office did not respond to a Fox News Digital request for more details.

I suspect it will be a cold day in a normally hot place before Rep. Jayapal responds to a request for comment from Fox News.

Control, Not Science: The Democratic Socialists Are Now Reviving the Green New Deal

Here's what we know about the bill's likely contents so far:

But a similar bill introduced five years ago by controversial ex-Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., entailed investing hundreds of billions of dollars into grants for public schools to make clean energy upgrades while also promoting curriculum changes focused on social and environmental equity.
Grants under that 2021 legislation would have also been aimed at "development of place-based and experiential education and community-driven curricula, with a focus on curricula that affirm and explore the underlying principles of the Green New Deal, including the significance of and the connections between racial, economic, and environmental and climate justice."
Grant funding would also be marked for "diversifying the workforce" and "expanding social service programming."

That's as completely content-free a serving of road apples as one is likely to see, and fortunately, it won't go anywhere in the current Congress. But bear in mind, the current Congress only has a few months left to go.

By their actions shall you judge them, and the fact that several Democrats are already signing on to support this is telling. This is the direction Democrats are going; the commie wing of the party, the "democratic socialist" wing, is growing in influence, and this is just the kind of thing they support, from affirming the "underlying principles of the Green New Deal" to "diversifying the workforce." There's nothing in there that enhances the education process. There's nothing in there that forwards the only purpose of any educational institution, at any, which is to produce young adults with marketable skills. There's nothing in there that furthers a curriculum that teaches what it means to be an American, for that matter.

Fortunately, for now, at least one key Republican stands in the way of this lunacy.

Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Mich., chairman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, panned the legislation when reached by Fox News Digital.
"The best way to prepare the next generation is by strengthening core academics, not expanding ideological programs. Parents and taxpayers have every right to expect schools to stay focused on education," Walberg said.

Rep. Walberg hits at the very nub of the matter. Schools are for imparting valuable life skills, not leftist indoctrination.
