This is what a major city looks like after years of suffering under criminal-friendly, incompetent, woke (but I repeat myself) leadership. Chicago, where mayors are concerned, seems to have a predilection for going from bad to worse, and never has that been more apparent than in the term of the feckless, incapable Mayor Brandon Johnson. Crime is spiking in Chicago again. The long weekend beginning with "Juneteenth" on Friday, June 19th, has now, as of this writing, seen 22 people shot, with five dead.
President Trump has weighed in on the matter, offering to do for Chicago what he did for the District of Columbia.

The president writes:
Lots of Killing going on in Chicago. 22 people shot, at least 4 Dead. Why isn’t Governor Pritzker calling me for help. I could make Chicago a safe City in ONE MONTH, in ONE YEAR, it would be one of the safest!!! D.C. went from one of the worst, to one of the safest cities in the U.S.
We're losing more people in one weekend in Chicago than we have lost in the military operations against Iran. Let that sink in.

A local outlet, the Chicago Sun-Times, has more.
At least five people were killed and 22 others were injured in shootings across Chicago since Friday afternoon.
Among those injured, 12 people were wounded in a mass shooting in Roseland on the South Side. Chicago police said a large crowd had gathered in the 200 block of West 95th Street when a red SUV drove by and two people inside opened fire shortly after 11 p.m. Friday.
When officers arrived, they found a 32-year-old woman with two gunshot wounds to her back. She was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. A 44-year-old man suffered four graze wounds and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. They were in good condition, police said.
At least 11 others were also injured, with the victims ranging between 17 and 47 years old.
Here, read on; there's more.
Hours before the mass shooting, a man was standing on the sidewalk in the 11900 block of South Michigan Avenue when an SUV drove by and opened fire around 5:15 p.m. The man, 29, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the face and body and was taken to Roseland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. A 70-year-old man who was nearby was also shot. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in stable condition.
A 33-year-old man was found shot to death around 8:55 p.m. in the 3700 block of West 30th Street in Little Village. He was shot several times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A man, 34, was found just before 10 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Latrobe Avenue in Austin with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
That's not even the entire toll.
You may well be safer walking down the street in Baghdad right now than in some parts of Chicago. Mayor Brandon Johnson, of course, is mouthing the usual platitudinous corral litter, but it amounts to nothing but a projection of impotence. What Chicago could use is a good, old-fashioned crackdown on goblins. Find them, arrest them, deny them bail, try them, and imprison them. If it's necessary to build more prisons, build them. And yes, honestly, they should take the president up on his offer. The Illinois National Guard should be able to bring things under control, especially if their rules of engagement were focused more on the survival of the troops than on kid-glove-handling the goblins.
Chicago is falling apart. Its leadership seems to have no idea what to do about it. Here's the real kicker: About half, maybe more, of the attackers have precious records, many with firearms offenses. Gang-related shootings make up about a fourth of all shootings, which is actually down from a third, only a few years ago - but it's still a shocker. In 2023, Chicago passed the SAFE-T Act, which eliminated cash bail for a wide range of crimes and established a "presumption of release," meaning goblins had the advantage; prosecutors had to pre-emptively justify detention, even for high-risk offenders.
It's a revolving door for criminals in the Chicago justice system. They can act with impunity, knowing the consequences, should they be caught, are likely to be minimal. And the regular people of Chicago are paying the price for this stupidity.
The situation in Chicago will never improve until the fear the citizens harbor of armed goblins is transferred to the goblins themselves; until these gang-bangers and thugs live every moment of every day in terror of capture and prison.
