Democrats are out of ideas, except for the same tired, old, communist, bad ideas: Taxes, taxes, and more taxes; regulation, regulation, and more regulation; control, control, and more control, over every aspect of our lives and our economy. Some are now openly calling for the seizure of the means of production because that worked out so well for Cuba, North Korea, and the Soviet Union. And, when they meet opposition, the answer seems to always be the same: Rage.
Rage, now that the American left seems to have plenty of. They rage in the halls of Congress, even during President Trump's State of the Union address, where the unhinged Democrat nutbar caucus tried to shout down the President of the United States during a State of the Union address. They rage on the streets, throwing things at cops, breaking windows, setting fires. The American left, Democrats, love to talk about "violent language" from Republicans, but whenever there is a real, organized act of violence - a riot, a mob - it's always the left that foments it. And since Donald John Trump came down that golden escalator in 2017 to announce his intent to run for President of the United States as a Republican, their Trump Derangement Syndrome has utterly taken over.
An editorial at Issues & Insights has some cogent insights on the matter.
Why does America have elected officials? If a visiting alien were introduced to the Democratic Party and asked that question, he’d surely say the purpose is to accumulate, consolidate, and hold power. This is the state of that party in 2026.
Of course, this is not a new development. The Democratic Party has been moving from a traditional political group (with a long history of proposing poor ideas) to a mob that wants to rule over the country rather than represent voters, defend the Constitution, and uphold the rule of law.
There’s no better example of this than the tantrum the party is pitching over the Virginia Supreme Court’s ruling that broke their effort to gerrymander the state’s congressional districts to eliminate all but one Republican district in a state where more than 46% of the voters pulled the lever for Donald Trump in 2024.
Again, rage. Not an acceptance of the constitutional process, not a retrenching, not a post-mortem aimed at making sure their party does better in the next go-around. No, rage - and an immediate plot to rework the system, to rig things so they won't lose again - ever.
Four of the seven justices found that the Democrats’ “legislative process employed to advance” the voter referendum that approved the new map not only violated the state constitution, but it was “wholly unprecedented in Virginia’s history.”
The headline over George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley’s New York Post op-ed says the ruling suggests the legal slapdown has left the Democrats “dangerous.” Somewhat like a cornered feral beast, we’d said.
Because they didn’t get their way, Democratic Party grandees are reportedly considering retiring the justices on the Virginia Supreme Court and replacing them with justices who will rehear the case and rubber-stamp the new congressional map.
And if they don't win, violence will ensue. They've said so.

The left is angry because trendlines, nationally, are not going in their favor, and they know it. The blue states, with their high taxes, high regulations, and high costs, are hemorrhaging residents as the productive flee for greener pastures. Add to that a demographic crisis; the left isn't having children.
So, violence, in rhetoric:
Well, Democrats are offering a non-stop flood of rhetorical flourishes that sounds a lot like a call to arms. When you incessantly call your political opponents Nazis, you may already be inciting someone to remove Trump (or Elon Musk) from the field of politics in a non-electoral fashion.
And in action:
Three assassination attempts within the last 22 months involving gunmen with an avowed intention to murder President Trump should be enough to convince any sane person that political violence in our country is a left-wing phenomenon that targets the right. As long ago as 2015, when Trump first declared his presidential candidacy, Rick Wilson, a founder of the ethically troubled anti-Trump Lincoln Project, said the president’s opponents should “put a bullet in Donald Trump.” The bullets have been flying in only one direction ever since.
If Democrats were interested in winning on issues, they would do well to turn to their one remaining sane member in Congress: Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) who remains a committed Democrat, despite his disagreement with the party's base over things ranging from Israel and the war on Iran to the White House ballroom. But I can remember when there was a range of opinion in the Democratic Party; that's not the case anymore. They march in lockstep, and when they lose, they are increasingly calling for destroying the village to save it.
Times are uncertain. But one thing is not uncertain: If violence erupts in the United States this summer, as it did in the summer of 2020, it won't be Republicans and American gun owners that start it. It will be, once again, the far left and Democrats, who these days are increasingly one and the same.
