Iran Targets Israel, U.S. Bases & Azerbaijan in New Missile & Drone Barrage

In what sure seems like the penultimate acts of a desperate regime, Iran is still lashing out at, well, pretty much everyone in the region. The most recent round of Iranian missile and drone attacks has seen the theocratic regime lashing out at American bases, at Israel, as well as the United Arab Emirates, and now, Azerbaijan.

Iran launched a new wave of attacks on Thursday, with explosions reported in the region and Tehran threatening that the U.S. would "bitterly regret" sinking an Iranian warship.

Iran's strikes on Thursday targeted Israel, American bases and countries in the region. Israel announced multiple incoming missile attacks as air raid sirens blared in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense on Thursday said Iran used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in an attack on Nakhchivan International Airport and other civilian infrastructure. The ministry said the details of the attack and the capabilities of the UAVs were being investigated.

Here's the thing: Iran has lost any vestige of control over their own airspace. Their missiles and drones are hitting some targets; a dying beast can still be dangerous, and Iran at this juncture is a lot like a crippled, rabid coyote; it's dying, but can still bite. Hitting the Azeris, though, that's an odd move. Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense was quick to call Iran out.

"The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan strongly condemns the attacks carried out by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran against civilian infrastructure on the territory of Azerbaijan in the absence of any military necessity. The Islamic Republic of Iran bears the entire responsibility for the incident," the ministry's statement read.

Iran has not acknowledged targeting Azerbaijan, despite the country's ministry of defense pointing the finger at Tehran.

What's left of the regime probably isn't exactly in complete control of the military anymore. This latest round of attacks may well have come at the order of a lower-ranking officer who has decided to go down fighting, although it's becoming apparent that the theocratic regime as a whole is determined to die fighting. To that, the only possible response is: "Your terms are acceptable."

Some of Iran's other neighbors are reporting possible Iranian attacks as well.

Qatar evacuated residents near the U.S. Embassy in Doha on Thursday, with its Ministry of Defense confirming that the country was "subjected to a missile attack" and that its air defense systems were able to intercept it. The ministry urged the public to remain calm and avoid unofficial information.

Abu Dhabi announced that its authorities were responding to an incident involving falling debris in ICAD 2, which is part of the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi. Six people, identified by Abu Dhabi as Pakistani and Nepali nationals, suffered minor to moderate injuries.

It sure looks like Iran is determined to turn the entire region against them.

This thing could well drag on for some time to come, but with every passing day, with every inexplicable instance of Iran lashing out at their neighbors who weren't even involved in this conflict until Iran attacked them, Iran goes weaker. The correlation of forces was never in their favor, and it will only continue to get worse. Every war is fought and won by logistics, after all, and Iran is losing that fight. Every missile, every drone they manage to launch is one they cannot replace. Meanwhile, the mullahs and the military leadership are constantly scurrying like cockroaches, trying to evade American and Israeli weapons.

A wounded beast is still dangerous. But sooner or later, it will succumb to its wounds.
