CENTCOM Presents Latest Laundry List of Iranian Lies

We've known since, well, 1979, that the ruling theocracy in Iran lacked even a nodding acquaintance with honesty and integrity. They are liars; their governing philosophy not only allows lying to infidels but even encourages it. When in negotiations over their nuclear program, they were lying. When they were in negotiations about their sponsorship of Islamic terrorist groups, they were lying. The only time this regime ever told the truth was when they were chanting "death to America."

And, in the ongoing Operation Epic Fury, they are lying again. But the United States Central Command - CENTCOM - just isn't having it. They are fact-checking Iran just as ruthlessly as American and Israeli aircraft are un-aliving the regime's leadership.

First, Iran is claiming to have sunk an American aircraft carrier. They didn't.

Yes, both of our carriers in the region are still above, not under, the waves, which is more than can be said for most of Iran's so-called navy right now. This is a particularly stupid lie when you consider that not only is an American aircraft carrier a huge, powerful ship, one whose absence would quickly be noticed, but it's also a ship carrying thousands of officers and sailors; it stands to reason that their loss would be noticed, as well. Iran lied.

Next, Iran is claiming to have killed hundreds of American and Israeli personnel.

While we grieve for the loss of even one American service member, as we do for those of our ally Israel, we should note that our casualties to date have been relatively light - as in, single digits. Not hundreds. Not thousands. Four were KIA. Five were seriously wounded. Iran lied.

Finally, in what may be the most egregious lie, Iran is claiming that their retaliation has only hit military targets. Horse squeeze.

Iran lied.

Propaganda, spin, and misdirection all have their place in warfare. We've done it too. But to be effective, these tactics should be plausible, believable, and not so outrageous as to provoke laughter in one's opponent. Iran here isn't even up to the Baghdad Bob level of dissembling. These aren't just lies; they are stupid, ridiculous lies, lies that are so easily refuted as to be laughable. Sometimes these kinds of outrageous lies are intended for domestic consumption - see North Korea - but the Iranian people, for the most part, seem to have their regime pretty well sussed out on this score, which is why they are dancing in the streets as the regime goblins are being reduced to flying spare parts. And that, incidentally, is when they'll stop lying.
