Tell me you didn't see this coming. In Virginia, where the new Democratic Governor Abigail Spanberger is busily putting in place policies to thwart federal immigration officers and hide illegal aliens at every turn, Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have taken into custody an Iranian national, in the United States illegally, who has a long criminal history, including repeated charges of sodomy.
The Washington, D.C., office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the arrest of an illegal immigrant and Iranian national who had a criminal history that included multiple charges relating to sodomy.
The arrest comes weeks after Gov. Abigail Spanberger reversed by executive order her predecessor Glenn Youngkin’s 287(g) agreement with DHS that allowed the commonwealth’s law enforcement agencies and federal immigration authorities to share resources and information to help apprehend illegal immigrants and criminals.
Virginia State Sen. Saddam Salim, D-Dunn Loring, also crafted a bill to bar Virginia law enforcement agencies from cooperating with ICE in most instances. The Democratic-controlled chamber passed the measure 21-19.
In other words, ICE has to go out and find goblins like this. Instead of just having local Virginia law enforcement drop a dime and call ICE, telling them, "Hey, we've got an illegal aliens here, come on by, and we'll hand him over," now ICE has to go out into the streets and scrape guys like this off the sidewalk.
And a real piece of work it is, they finally caught, too:
Shayan Kahhal, whose sex offender registry information provided a residential address near the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, was captured by ICE this week, according to an alert from the agency.
Kahhal has a criminal history that includes charges of strong-armed rape, strong-armed sodomy of a woman, strong-arm sodomy of a boy and strong-arm sodomy of a girl.
The Virginia State Police’s sex offender page lists a rape and two forcible sodomy convictions from 2011.
Goblin really keeps coming back to the same old well. Fine; let him do it in Tehran, not the Norfolk area.

Then there's this carefully worded evasion:
Spanberger has said that Virginia law enforcement will continue honoring valid judicial warrants, promising to abide by Virginia law in those matters.
Governor Spanberger has undoubtedly heard of the Supremacy Clause, and also is undoubtedly aware that illegal aliens are normally sought out, detained, and deported under administrative, not judicial, warrants. No doubt the Virginia governor and her advisors thought this a clever evasion, but if they were half as smart as they think they are, they'd be twice as smart as they really are.
Fact is, policies like those Governor Spanberger and her people endanger Virginians, not only by tying ICE's shoelaces together, but by attracting goblins like Shayan Kahhal, who know that it will be that much easier to escape and evade immigration authorities there than in, say, Florida or Texas, where local law enforcement and ICE work hand in hand. Watch Virginia, who until recently had a pretty decent Governor, because it's a safe bet you'll see more goblins like Shayan Kahhal, and in the best case, we'll see them being scooped up and repatriated despite, not because of, Virginia's best efforts.
