Tucker's Insane Equivalence: Cop-Assaulting Driver Now Equals Assassinated Charlie Kirk?

I'm not sure when Tucker Carlson's descent into nutbaggery began. I had kind of a dim awareness of him when he was the bowtie-wearing guy on Fox News, and when that schtick got tired, he actually hosted his own show for a while, and it wasn't bad. But then Fox defenestrated him, and he went out on his own. He seemed to be keeping it together - for a while.

But now? It looks like he's gone about a half-bubble off plumb, and that's for sure and for certain. In his latest, he's trying to draw some moral equivalence between the shooting of an anti-ICE "protester" who nearly ran over a cop, and the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Sorry, Tucker, but that's crazy.

Ryan Saavedra's post is lengthy, but here's the key point:

Tucker Carlson compares the death of Renee Nicole Good to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Good hit a federal law enforcement officer with her car after disobeying orders from authorities to get out of her car because she was impeding law enforcement.

Kirk was assassinated by a militant leftist because he used words to spread his ideas.

Yes. Tucker, in his statement reproduced by Mr. Saavedra, writes:

The 37-year-old was an American citizen and reportedly the mother of a kindergarten-aged child. Did we disagree with her views on immigration? Probably. But that shouldn't matter. Her death is a tragedy, regardless of her partisan affiliations, ideological beliefs, or who pulled the trigger. A woman got shot in the face.

Yes, Tucker, a woman got shot in the face. She wouldn't have gotten shot in the face if she had been waving a sign on the sidewalk. She wouldn't have been shot in the face if she had been at home writing an agitated letter to her political representatives. She wouldn't have gotten shot in the face if she had not tried to impede ICE vehicles by placing her vehicle and herself in their way. She wouldn't have gotten shot in the face had she stepped out of the vehicle when the ICE agent, a badged law-enforcement officer conducting his legal duty, had asked her to. All those decisions were hers, as was the decision to stamp on the gas with a LEO standing in front of her car. That's why she got shot in the face.

So, when you write this, Tucker, we know your turn to the dark side is complete:

How come so few conservatives are viewing this story through a human lens? And why, when something similar, like the killing of Charlie Kirk, happens on the other side, did many on the left celebrate because they thought his political opinions were wrong? We have a guess.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk is nothing whatsoever like the death of Renee Nicole Good. Not even remotely, other than they both were killed by bullets. That's where any similarity ends.

Charlie Kirk was seated, talking with people, in a pavilion set up for the purpose. He wasn't impeding any law enforcement effort in any way. He wasn't threatening anyone. The most threatening thing he had on his person was a microphone and possibly a water bottle. He was assassinated, in a preplanned action, by a left-wing nutcase who set up his attack in advance. Charlie was killed for being open about his political opinions, but he sought to persuade, not to intimidate, not to threaten, not to impede or interfere with anyone.

There is no similarity in the two cases. To claim there is, is to engage in the greatest denial of reality since the Democratic National Committee claimed Joe Biden was "sharp as a tack."
