Best efforts of Congressional Democrats, the far-left, and the legacy media notwithstanding, the Trump administration is still chalking up wins. On Monday, the FBI's Deputy Director Dam Bongino took to his official X account to count coup on some high-profile busts - and these are some impressive collars.
Your @FBI has even more updates for you on our efforts to defend the homeland and protect the American people:

On the specific counts:
-Kevin Luke, a retired Army Colonel, pleaded guilty to unauthorized communication of national defense information and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. In 2024, he met a woman online and sent her photographs of classified information detailing a future U.S. military operation. It doesn’t matter who you think you’re talking to, classified MEANS classified, and the FBI will hold anyone accountable who waivers in safeguarding our national defense information. Thank you @FBITampa, and @RealAFOSI.
An Army Colonel should know better than to give anyone classified information to anyone, but sending this kind of information to "...a woman he met online" is a whole new level of stupid. This man has admitted, with this guilty plea, of betraying his oath and his country.
This one is rather horrifying:
-Yunqing Jian, a citizen of the People’s Republic of China, pleaded guilty to charges of smuggling a DANGEROUS biological pathogen into our country and then lying about it to FBI agents, and was DEPORTED. The FBI will not stand by and allow our foreign adversaries to exploit our top-notch university facilities in furtherance of their agendas. Thank you @FBIDetroit , and @CBPNorthAmerica.
It's not reported what the pathogen was, but this isn't the first time a Chinese national has been caught trying to bring biological materials into the country. Mistake? Or test run?
Biological agents should scare the ever-loving kapok out of anyone and everyone. Speaking as a biologist, I worry more about biological agents than nukes and chemical weapons combined. This goblin has, according to this, been repatriated, but it's a safe bet this isn't the last time something like this is attempted.

Then there's this:
-Chenguang Gong, a dual citizen of the U.S. and China, was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for stealing highly sensitive trade secrets from a Los Angeles-area R&D company where he worked. This included THOUSANDS of files and blueprints for cutting edge technologies that were developed for use by the USG to detect nuclear missile launches, track ballistic and hypersonic missiles, and allow U.S. fighter planes to evade heat-seeking missiles. Let this serve as a warning that anyone who tries to undermine U.S. national security will face severe penalty. Thank you @FBILosAngeles, @FBISanFrancisco, @StateDeptDSS, @HSI_HQ, and @USAO_NDCA.
Yet another in a long, long chain of Chinese theft of American military technology. This puts Chenguang Gong in a list with Xu Yanjun, who was convicted of four counts of economic espionage and conspiracy; Ji Wang, convicted of economic espionage and theft of trade secrets; Hao Zhang, a Chinese professor at the University of California, convicted of economic espionage and conspiracy; and Hongjin Tan, a Chinese national convicted of the theft of trade secrets.
It makes one wonder how many of these people haven't yet been caught. But this one, at least, is now headed for a prison term.
And, finally:
-The FBI was proud to collaborate with one of our most trusted partners to combat the significant threat posed by Russian state-linked actors bribing politicians to advance Russian interests. We assisted the London Metropolitan Police in bringing down Nathan Gill, who was sentenced 10.5 years of prison for taking bribes to make pro-Russia statements as a Member of the European Parliament. In 2021, the FBI seized the phone of an accomplice in the U.S. and was able to share data from the phone with the UK as evidence in the case. The FBI is dedicated to protecting the integrity of democratic systems and institutions, both here and abroad. Thank you for your collaboration, @metpoliceuk and @FBIWFO on this important effort.
Well, what do you know; actual Russian collusion.
These are some great busts. This is a never-ending task, but it sure seems like we've seen a lot more of these kinds of busts and convictions lately - say, since about January of 2025.
