A notorious Chinese drug kingpin, one Zhi Dong Zhang, alias “Brother Wang,” has been under indictment for drug trafficking and money laundering in an Atlanta court since 2022. He escaped arrest in Mexico for a time, but was picked up by Mexican authorities in October of 2024. He escaped house arrest and fled to Cuba, but was extradited back to Mexico - and on Thursday was handed over to the United States.
Zhi Dong Zhang, also known as Brother Wang, was handed over to U.S. authorities on Thursday. The Chinese fentanyl and cocaine kingpin was arrested last year in Mexico City, but managed to escape this summer after a judge’s controversial decision to grant him house arrest. He arrived in Cuba with a false passport after being denied entry to Russia for the same reason. Cuban authorities notified their Mexican counterparts this week that he had been arrested along with two other individuals, one Mexican and the other Chinese.
We've become rather accustomed to the big, splashy spectacle of drug-smuggling speedboats being taught that great old American military lesson that "There is no problem that cannot be solved with a suitable application of high explosives." But this bust may be bigger than all the detonated drug boats.
Zhi Dong is accused of money laundering and drug trafficking through a criminal organization with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Mexico. The Mexican chapter of Brother Wang’s story came to a close on Thursday afternoon, when Mexico’s Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch confirmed his extradition to the United States, where he will face justice. He was a priority target for Washington in its crusade against fentanyl.
This guy was a major player in the drug fabrication and smuggling game. He probably knows a lot - a lot of names, a lot of faces, and a lot of home addresses. This is a guy who should be squeezed, and we should note that there is rarely any sense of omertà with goblins like "Brother Wang." When caught, they frequently sing like birds. This is a guy who may very well be familiar with some details of the Chinese drug precursor pipeline between China and Mexico, and we can bet that's something the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Trump administration would like very much to know.

Is he worried about his safety, should he sing? Guarantee him a spot, on conviction, in the safest place he could be - the Supermax prison in Colorado. He will be safe as houses there, in a 7 x 12 foot concrete cell, with only a 4" window and a stainless steel commode to keep him company.
No house arrest for "Brother Wang" this time. He stands accused of laundering at least $20 million in the United States, using a network of over 150 shell companies and 170 bank accounts. The guy is a crook, but he's not a stupid crook, and he may have a lot of sensitive information about the cartel's financial operations - information that may help shut off their flow of cash.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
