Sanders Finds an Acorn - Praises Trump, Slams Biden on Border

We've had ample cause to criticize Senator Bernie Sanders (Bolshevik-VT) in the past. His political views are mostly right out of Marx and Lenin. He honeymooned in the Soviet Union, and probably would have been happier to have remained there. He campaigns against oligarchy while buzzing around the country in a private, carbon-spewing jet, when he's not ensconced in one of his three palatial houses - excuse me, dachas. In the finest traditions of the Soviet Politburo, he justifies this by saying, "I'm important."

But even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then. Once in a while - a very great while - Bernie gets something right, and we should recognize it when he does. He did so on The Tim Dillion Show, wherein he slammed Joe Biden's performance on the border, and, get this, praised President Trump.

Yes, really.

Sen. Bernie Sanders praised President Donald Trump’s immigration policy during a recent appearance on The Tim Dillon Show, saying Trump "did a better job" securing the border than President Biden and urging Democrats to return to enforcement-focused policy.

"So long as we have nation-states, you’ve got to have borders," Sanders said. "If you don’t have any borders, then you don’t have a nation."

He added pointedly, "Trump did a better job. I don’t like Trump, you know, but we should have a secure border, and it ain’t that hard to do."

Well, he's not wrong. And you don't have to take the written report as proof; see for yourself, courtesy of the Republican National Committee (RNC):

None of that is in question. Now.

But only a few short years ago, the Bern was singing a different tune:

During a March 2020 Fox News town hall, Sanders said he "would not close the borders" even amid the COVID-19 pandemic, calling border shutdowns "xenophobic."

In January 2019, as Trump in his first term as president made a prime-time case that a border crisis required urgent action, Sanders downplayed the situation, saying at the time "we don’t need to create artificial crises" at the border.

Of course, the crisis at the border was anything but artificial. And socialists, especially old Bolsheviks like Bernie Sanders, aren't exactly famed for their intellectual consistency. But the Biden immigration failures have become such an obvious mess that not even Bernie can deny it anymore. And, conversely, President Trump's shutdown of the border has been such an obvious success that again, not even Bernie can deny it anymore. So now even Bernie Sanders, who has been wandering the wilds of America's loony left for years, has to admit that the Trump border shutdown is working.

Of course, ask him again in a year, and you may get a very different answer.

One key thing to remember about these people: It's all about The Side. Bernie Sanders can admit the obvious here because there's not an active presidential election going on. When the 2028 cycle starts up, and the Democrat front-runners start lining up to call Trump a racist, fascist, and a big doody-head over his border policies, watch for Bernie to toe the line of a party he's not even a member of to reverse course on this issue yet again. Yes, he's right now, this one time. But, as I noted, the left isn't known for intellectual consistency. They have none.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
