A lot of us remember with distaste the shenanigans pulled by Democrats to try to block the Senate approval of Justice Brett Kavanaugh. It was a shameful episode, an example of partisanship run amok, and we can hope to never see its like again, although we have, and will in the future. This is how the Democrat Party is built these days.
A lot of us also remember, also from that episode, the flash of anger from Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and his taking his Democratic colleagues to task during the hearing. This was the event that many of us referred to as "Lindsey 2.0," the newer, more forceful Lindsey Graham, who wouldn't take any Schiff from anyone.
On Sunday, on "Meet the Press," opposite host Kristen Welker, while speaking of the charges being brought against Letitia James and others, we saw a little flash of Lindsey 2.0 again.
NBC: "But what about Trump?"
— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) October 12, 2025
LINDSEY GRAHAM: "...You didn't care that Letitia James made up charges that no one's ever faced. That Alvin Bragg made up charges no one ever faced...This may bother you that people are being held accountable. It doesn't bother me one damn bit." pic.twitter.com/oCFmD8Cgwz
The conversation here is messy, with both of them talking over the other at times, so I'll see if I can't clear it up some.
Kristen Welker: Do you think that crosses a line between the Justice Department being independent from the executive branch?
Senator Graham: I think our Justice Department, in the hands of (President) Biden, crossed every line there is to cross. I think within three days of his announcing he was going to run for president in 2024, he did that in 2020, too.
KW (interrupting): But what about Trump? What about Trump?
Senator Graham: He had 91 indictments...
KW (still interrupting): But what about Trump?
Senator Graham: No, I think the grand jury's going to take care of this. But you didn't care any about this. You didn't care that Letitia James made up charges that no one has ever faced.
KW: But Senator Biden never called for Trump to be indicted.
Senator Graham: He had.. Biden, Biden regretted that they didn't do it before the election. Jack Smith surveilled my phone records and eight other Senators. Jack Smith introduced his brief against Trump on October the 24th, before the 2024 election, violating every protocol just to politicize the election. So this may bother you that people are being held accountable. It doesn't bother me one d**n bit.
So, not quite the flash of anger, even rage, that we saw at the Kavanaugh hearings. But Senator Graham wasn't taking Kristen Welker's arguments at face value, either.

This is the best way to handle the legacy media. Don't accept their premises. Don't accept their statements at face value. Don't acknowledge anything they say as the truth, because it likely isn't. Stay on message. Stay on course. Kristen Welker was clearly, in this clip, trying to drag the discussion back onto comfortable ground for her, but all she had - all any of the left have - as far as messaging goes right now, is just as Ms. Welker protested, several times, in this interview:
"But what about Trump? But what about Trump? But what about Trump?"
That's not a winning message. That's the Democrats, conceding the rhetorical high ground.
I would still like to see more of this Lindsey Graham.
