On Tuesday, testifying before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee, Attorney General Pam Bondi came under questioning by Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), who, honestly, had no idea what he was getting himself into, or how outmatched he was, because AG Bondi proceeded to bring the thunder on Illinois, and particularly Chicago's crime rate.
"Your city has a murder rate five times higher than New. York's — 571 homicides last year," says @AGPamBondi to the insufferable @SenatorDurbin on the National Guard in Chicago.

The Attorney General said:
Your city has a murder rate five times higher than New York. 571 homicides last year. If you were serious about protecting your people, you would be asking this administration for help. You're saying that we're coming into your state, and your city? We're there to help make America safe and Illinois safe, whether or not you want to.
But it was when Durbin questioned her on the FBI leadership and National Guard troops, then headed for Chicago, that AG Bondi engaged beast mode.
🚨 JUST IN: AG Pam Bondi goes BERSERK on Senator Durbin (D-IL) - "The National Guard is on the way AS WE SPEAK! So is Director Patel and Deputy AG Todd Blanche! You're sitting here grilling ME, and they are on their way to Chicago, to keep YOUR state SAFE." 🔥 pic.twitter.com/8dkzU2PwM8

Again, the AG speaks:
The National Guard is on the way, right now, as we speak. Oh, by the way, so is Director Patel and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. You're sitting here grilling me, and they are on their way to Chicago, to keep your state safe.
Durbin limply protests:
Madam Attorney General, it's my job to grill you.
What the invertebrate Senator from Illinois doesn't seem to understand is that it's not his job to grill the United States Attorney General. It's his job to represent the State of Illinois in the Senate, and in so doing to fulfill one primary purpose: To protect the liberty and property of the people of Illinois.
In this, he has failed. In this, Governor Pritzker has failed. In this, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has failed. It's a litany of failure all the way down, and someone has to do something - AG Bondi is just stepping into the vacuum left by Illinois' failed leadership.

Chicago is out of control, as our so many of our major cities. The almost-universally Democratic leadership of those cities will do anything to prevent what might be perceived as a success by any member of the Trump administration. In the name of their own Stage 4 Trump Derangement Syndrome, they appear to be more than willing to throw their own people into the pyre.
Pam Bondi's not having it. In fact, AG Bondi's rough handling of Senator Durbin reminds me of a few lines from the old British novel, "Lark Rise":
Ole bull he comes for me, wi's head down. But I didn't flinch...I went for 'e. 'Twas him as did th' flinchin'.
AG Bondi gave Dick Durbin some reason to flinch, and flinch he did - because, at some level, he has to know that the AG is right.
