Escalation: Now Chicago Anti-ICE Rioters Are Carrying Guns

It is beginning to look a lot like open rebellion in several of the country's major cities. Federal law enforcement is surging into Portland, Oregon, to break the Antifa siege of the Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) building there. There have been riots, there have been organized protests, and there have been clashes with local cops and federal law enforcement.

On Saturday, in Chicago, a so-called "sanctuary" jurisdiction led by one of the most incompetent mayors in the nation, Brandon Johnson, things may be poised to escalate. In Sunday, the Department of Homeland Security released images of at least two handguns seized from anti-ICE rioters, as well as making a statement that at least one improvised explosive device was also confiscated.

The post continues:

An investigation is underway into what appears to be some sort of explosive device found last night near the ICE Chicago detention facility.

A Fox News piece published Sunday has more details:

Federal law enforcement agents deployed pepper balls and tear gas Friday during a standoff with anti-ICE protesters outside of Chicago.

The confrontation came just two days after a shooter opened fire at an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas. The gunman in that incident killed one detainee and injured two others before taking his own life, authorities said.

At least 50 protesters were seen midday Friday at an ICE processing center in Broadview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. An ICE spokesperson told Fox News that two were arrested, one of whom was carrying a firearm.

This far from the first time things have gotten ugly at this Chicago-area ICE facility.

Last week, violent clashes between protesters and ICE agents at the facility led to 16 arrests.

In the demonstration, "rioters and sanctuary politicians obstructed law enforcement, threw tear gas cans, rocks, bottles, and fireworks, slashed tires of cars, blocked the entrance of the building, and trespassed on private property," the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said, adding that rioters also assaulted law enforcement officials.

But the presence of an IED seems a significant escalation.

From the photo provided—mind you, this is pure speculation—the improvised explosive appears to be a sphere covered with tape, with a length of fuse attached. It appears to be the type of fuse used in model rocket launches, although that's impossible to tell from the photo. The sphere could be metal or ceramic; again, it's impossible to tell from the photo. However, this appears to be something intended to be thrown, not left in place for later detonation.

In other words, this device looks like nothing so much as an improvised hand grenade. They could contain a compound designed to emit smoke, instead of an explosive, designed to impede observation of the rioter's actions. But in either case, the presence of arms and improvised devices like this represents a significant escalation.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
