It's not a good time to be a Democrat, either in office or seeking office. At least, if you're not crazy, because that's sure the road that the Democrats are heading down. Just look at any public statements made by any of these people; look at New York, where Democrats nominated an actual communist for Mayor. Look at Kamala Harris, still - still! Still the Democrats' favorite for the 2028 presidential nomination, a woman who can barely string together a sentence. Look at the Squad, each member of which lurches from lunacy to lunacy. The few remaining moderates in the Democratic Party are just faint voices, crying out in the wilderness.
Their polling reflects it, too.
One year ago on Monday, then-President Joe Biden stunned the political world by ending his campaign for re-election.
Biden's exit from the 2024 White House race also rocked the Democratic Party, which went on to suffer setbacks on Election Day, as the party lost control of the presidency, the Senate and fell short in its bid to win back the House majority.
One year later, the Democratic Party is still reeling.
Just 28% of Americans view the party favorably, according to a CNN poll conducted July 10-13 and released last week. That's the lowest mark for Democrats in the entire history of CNN polling, going back over 30 years.
Of course, 30 years ago, we may have disagreed with Democrats on policy issues, but most of them weren't, well, nuts.
But it gets worse.
The CNN poll is far from an outlier.
Just 19% of voters questioned in a Quinnipiac University national poll give Democrats in Congress a thumbs up on how they're handling their duties, with 72% disapproving.
That's an all-time low since Quinnipiac University first began asking congressional approval questions in their surveys 16 years ago.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is the price you pay for crazy.

It shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone who isn't out once a month howling at the full moon that there is good reason for this crash in approval ratings. The Democrats have embraced to the party's bosom every wackadoodle cause to come down the pike since about 2008. Dudes in women's sports, surgical and chemical mutilation of kids, replacing cops with social workers, throwing the borders open to all and sundry while refusing to even attempt to enforce immigration laws - none of these stances poll well with people who have enough sense to pound sand.
Democrats, these days, don't seem to care about sense, common or otherwise. One would think polls like this, from CNN, a network that is usually reliable in carrying water for the left - you would think that would alarm them, maybe make them take a hard look at their policy positions.
Of course, it's better for the country if they continue to double down on crazy.
None of this means the GOP should be resting on its laurels, mind you. The midterms will be on us before we know it, and the party that is out of power usually does well in midterms. That's in no small part because their people are motivated to get out and vote, and the Trump Derangement Syndrome-riddled Democrats are going to be fired up to go to the polls because Orange Man Bad. Be ready - vote early, vote on the day, but vote, and make sure all your (Republican) friends and family vote, too.
