Watch: Trump on Fire, Rips Putin in Powerful Statement

On Sunday, President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to fire a broadside at Russian President Vladimir Putin as well as Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky. In typical Trump fashion, he let both of the other national leaders have it.

Later on Sunday, the president spoke to a CNN news crew, wherein he likewise let Putin and Zelensky have, as my grandmother would have said, a darn good piece of his mind.

The president said:

President Trump: Yeah, I'll give you an update. I'm not happy with what Putin's doing! He's killing a lot of people. And I don't know what the hell happened to Putin! I've known him a long time. Always gotten along with him. But he's sending rockets into cities and killing people. And I don't like it at all. OK? We're in the middle of talking and he's shooting rockets into Kiev and other cities! I don't like it at all.

Unknown reporter: Mr. President, what do you want to do about that?

President Trump: I'm surprised. I'm very surprised. We'll see what we're going to do. What am I going to tell you? You're the fake news, aren't you? You're totally fake. Any other questions? I don't like what Putin is doing, not even a little bit. He's killing people. And something happened to this guy, and I don't like it.

We should note that President Trump isn't sparing Ukraine's president, either; in his Truth Social post on Sunday, the president wrote:

Likewise, President Zelenskyy is doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop

President Trump has never had any difficulty saying exactly what he thinks.

And here's the thing: The "OMG TRUMP IS TOTALLY A RUSSIAN ASSET" thing that so many on the left are so fond of has been defenestrated by the president's remarks, and not just on Sunday. The Russo-Ukraine war and the difficulty of even getting the leaders of those two warring nations to even sit down at the same table would drive a plaster statue to distraction, and President Trump is no plaster statue. When he's frustrated and angry, everyone around him knows about it.

It's harder and harder to see any military conclusion in this matter. It has stalled into a high-tech version of the Great War, with mostly fixed lines, and both sides launching missiles and drones at one another. Putin probably can't take all of Ukraine; if he had the capacity, he would have by now. Zelensky can't have Crimea back. That's just not going to happen. At this point, he'll be lucky to get back any of the areas of eastern Ukraine that Putin's forces now hold.

It's time for a negotiated end to this thing. But neither side seems interested in talking. Small wonder President Trump is frustrated and angry.
