There is an old saying generally attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte that goes, "Never interfere with the enemy when he is in the process of destroying himself." Regardless of whether old Bony actually said that or not, it certainly applies to many types of conflict, including politics. If your opponent is screwing up, let them, and much good may it do them.
Like, say, today's Democrat party - the party of the ever-more annoying Jasmine Crockett, who would lose a battle of wits with a stuffed armadillo; of failed bartender Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of Ilhan "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" Omar, of Eric "Fang Fang" Swalwell, of "Pothole Pete" Buttigieg, and the impeccably coiffed Governor Gavin Newsom, whose primary career achievements include wrecking San Francisco before moving on to wreck California.
These people seem increasingly desperate by the day. Overcome by Stage IV Trump Derangement Syndrome, they are relying on stupid political stunts to make news, not realizing that this is precisely the reason the Democratic Party's approval ratings hover somewhere between those of cockroaches and abscessed molars. They Democrats, having had their butts handed to them in the 2024 election by the very man that gets them spinning like a Kansas tornado, are still, against all evidence to the contrary, thinking that their problem is messaging, not the message - and they are doubling down on stupid. Pollster Matt Towery has some interesting perspectives on why.
Democratic Party favorability has plummeted to a record-low 29% in March, dropping 20 points since 2021. During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Towery said rather than pivot toward economic messaging that could resonate with voters, the party appears locked into divisive cultural rhetoric and aggressive posturing that has alienated much of the middle class.
“They’re doubling down on everything that doesn’t work. They’re getting these poll results back that say, ‘Oh, the people in your party want you to be tougher on Trump.’ And hence you have incidents like today in Newark,” Towery told host Laura Ingraham.
Doubling down on what doesn't work is precisely right. Democrats have chosen DEI, fighting tooth and nail for the rights of illegal alien criminals to stay in our country, and dudes in women's sports as the hills they want to die on - and you can bet your bottom dollar that, should President Trump announce tomorrow that he supported any of those items, the Democrats would reverse course on them so fast it would generate shock waves that could detail a diesel locomotive.
Towery continues:
“They are taking the exact wrong direction. And you see the elders of the party, the folks who’ve been around a long time say, ‘No, no, no, you can’t do this.’ No one’s listening,” Towery said.
The infighting doesn’t stop there.
“And, by the way, do you think AOC and the squad like [Democratic Rep] Jasmine [Crockett of Texas] right now? I think she’s taking a little spotlight away from them,” Towery said. “So there’s going to be a big battle at some point as to who’s going to be the darling of the Democratic Party. And, like you said, she’s sort of leapfrogging over at this moment.”
Here I differ with Mr. Towery. Jasmine Crockett, AOC, and their ilk are taking a LOT of spotlight from the "elders of the party," the same people, I remind you, who insisted that Joe Biden was as sharp as a tack, who insisted he was not what we all saw, a dessicated, senile old man. These Democrat "elders of the party," themselves, have an average age best measured in ice ages; just look at the Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY), whose first legislative proposal was probably written on parchment.
AOC herself is increasingly unpopular in her own district, which she is largely ignoring in her quest for wider notoriety.
Frustration with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has reached a breaking point on her home turf, with fed up Queens and Bronx constituents telling The Post they’re sick and tired of being second fiddle to the jet-setting socialist’s primary focus — herself.
Her district offices in the Bronx and Queens offer little to justify the $1.9 million the congresswoman gets to run them — one is only open a single weekday and the other is closed on Fridays, with phones that go unanswered and constituents urged to discuss their problems “by appointment only.”
AOC’s town halls used to be monthly events – now are only held once in a blue moon, there’s virtually no way to get in a question, and sometimes she only phones in and doesn’t bother coming in person, galled constituents said.
AOC is obviously laboring under the misapprehension that she's on a trajectory for higher office, and the great irony is that she may be right; Chuck Schumer's Senate seat may be within her grasp, which shows you just how loony New York Democrats have become.
Scarcely a day goes by without some new head-scratcher of a display from these people.

Democrats, right now, have no message other than "Orange Man Bad." They have no up-and-comers, except the governor who wrecked California, a New York congresswoman who ignores her constituents to fly about the country on a private jet with a withered old Bolshevik shouting about "oligarchy," and the rest of the parade of nuts, nincompoops, and loons. They continue to crater in the polls, and their odds of taking back the House and Senate in 2026 are looking slimmer by the day.
Nationwide, the Democrats keep on making mistakes, catastrophic ones. So what do we do?
We let them.
