Is Europe Headed for a New Dark Age?

Europe, the wellspring of Western civilization, is in large part a hot mess these days. The European elites have gone all-in for "renewable" energy, and we see from the recent mass outages in Spain and Portugal how well that is working out. The fuzzy-headed immigration policies that too many of Europe's supposed leadership have put in place are bringing in hordes of Third World "migrants" who are forming no-go enclaves on many of Europe's major cities, and bringing with them such cultural enrichment as stabbings, rape and grooming gangs.

Europe may well be headed for a new dark age.

In between the fall of the Roman Empire and the birth of the Italian Renaissance, Western Europe economically stagnated and culturally declined in what are commonly called the Dark Ages.

This period, which lasted several centuries, has become known as the Dark Ages primarily because societal advancements and human progress generally ceased as sound science, facts, and the truth were disregarded by elites who sought power and control.

Sadly, Western Europe is treading down this road again.

If there is an equivalent event to the fall of the Roman Empire that we can apply to Europe today, it may well be the end of the Cold War. Before that, Western Europe was more or less united by the threat of the Soviet Union, and the entire "climate change" panic had not yet taken root.

Also, the nations of Europe had not yet thrown the doors open for waves of immigration from the Third World. And these are the two problems that may well sink Europe. Will it be another lost millennium?

Right now, in Europe, this climate change agenda is being pushed by a moneyed elite who, as is so often the case, are insulated from the effects of the stupid policies they push.

Europe, unlike the United States, has a very long history of wealthy elites wielding outsized power and control in a system rigged against the masses. In many instances, these elites have conspired to create zero-sum systems in which they win, and the rest lose.

Make no mistake, Western European elites are committed to forcing their climate alarmist agenda upon the masses, whether they like it or not.

As such, we must underscore the sheer stupidity of their ridiculous, yet sinister, plan to replace reliable, affordable, and abundant energy with unreliable, unaffordable, and environmentally destructive power sources that are wholly dependent on sunny and windy conditions.

The answer is simple: It's about control, not about the climate. The question is, how far down this dark path will these people drag Europe?

The climate problem is bad enough. The green agenda impoverishes the populace by replacing reliable, constant energy with unreliable, intermittent "green" energy. Europe has, by and large, shut down its nuclear power plants, although the various nations of Europe still use a lot of Russian natural gas.

Sooner or later, this house of cards will come down. The green energy schemes have too many contradictions built into the systems. They are not "zero-emission." As is so often the case, they just shift the emissions to a different location. They are not "sustainable." As is so often the case, they involve more cost and produce more persistent waste than other, more traditional methods of generating electricity, heating, or powering transport.

And then there's the immigration problem. Ethnic Europeans are, like so many populations in the developed world, standing on the edge of a demographic cliff; Europeans are simply not breeding, and as has so often been pointed out, the future belongs to those who show up for it.

The people of Europe, it seems, are opting out.

In their place are coming hordes of third-world "refugees," who are overwhelming many European cities and even small towns. Many of them hate the liberties of Western Civilization and would happily overthrow them, while simultaneously taking advantage of Europe's generous social-welfare systems. These people are most assuredly not on the edge of any demographic cliff, and they are poised to become a dominant demographic force in a few more generations.

Europe is a land with a storied history. From ancient Greece to the British Empire, Europe once dominated the world. Europe gave rise to the early Industrial Revolution and the technologies that came along with it; that revolution created, for the first and only time in human history, a robust and prosperous middle class.

Now, Europe is inexplicably throwing all that away.

There are hopeful signs that some of the nations of Europe are having none of it. Hungary and several other Eastern European countries are refusing the waves of Third World immigrants. And Italy's spectacular populist Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, is making all the right noise about another Italian Renaissance.

Europe has come a long way since it was peopled by hunter-gatherers in furs. And, Europe's been through hard times before. But what's coming now may be insurmountable; the primary influences in Europe in the next generation or two may be the monied elite pushing an untenable climate agenda, and hordes of Third World immigrants pushing a transformation from civilization to barbarity.

Europe may not be able to survive this.
