Decisiveness is an important character trait, one that people should cultivate in themselves. The ability to evaluate a situation and determine the right action is very important in life; it can, in fact, literally be a life-or-death skill. It was one that the Army, in leadership lessons, hammered home - look, evaluate, decide, act.
The other side of that coin, of course, is that one must live with the consequences of their decisions. Make a decision, and you, no one else, are responsible for the effects of that decision.
That brings me to "Trans Laird Lady," who claims to be "Lady Samantha Kane," who is apparently shooting for the Guinness Book of World Records in the "number of sex change operations" category - and who wants the British taxpayers to pick up the tab.
A transgender laird is suing the NHS after it refused to carry out a third sex change surgery.
Lady Samantha Kane, who was born male and now styles herself as Lady Carbisdale after buying a £5 million Scottish castle, is thought to be the only person in Britain to have changed gender three times.
Ms Kane, who was born male, had surgery in 1997 to become Samantha, before having it reversed and taking on the identity of Charles Kane in 2004.
OK, did you get that? In summary: This... person was born male - misleading, as he was actually conceived male, that's how mammalian reproduction works - then underwent surgery to become "female," then had that surgery reversed to become a dude again.
Here's the onion:
She claims doctors at University College London Hospital (UCLH) NHS Foundation Trust then refused a request for a third surgery to revert to a woman in 2017, leading Ms Kane to have a private procedure in Serbia in 2018, which was allegedly “botched”.
Ms Kane, a trained engineer, barrister and business tycoon, alleges that the NHS then refused treatment again after the Serbian procedure allegedly resulted in “infected” surgical devices being left inside her body, which she said caused agony lasting three years.
Here's the first layer of this stinker: The United Kingdom's National Health Service - the NHS - is that nation's socialized medicine apparatus, funded by the British taxpayers. So this self-styled Scottish Laird...ess, who lives in a freaking castle worth £5 Million, wants the British taxpayers to pony up for his (yes, his) third sex change.
The second layer of this stinker lies in Kane's impatience, wherein he (yes, he) went off to Serbia for yet another sex change that, amazingly, ended up making what a Brit might call a "right good hash of things." You can only surgically reconstruct one's dangly bits so many times before it all starts to come apart, and that's apparently what's happening here.
But the third and final zinger is the real head-scratcher: what outcome is Kane hoping for out of yet another surgical procedure carried out by the NHS? That somehow his (yes, his) tortured, disassembled, and reassembled Frankenstonian naughty bits will be salvaged by still more surgical interference?

Of course, the proper answer to this kook's lawsuit is denial; this person is some kind of business tycoon and lives in a castle worth $6,255,215 in American money, more or less. He can pay for his own damn third sex change. If he (yes, he) has to sell his Scottish castle, then tough noogies.
The elephant in the room here, of course, is this: Business tycoon, barrister, engineer, or whatever, this is a person with a deep and profound mental illness. This isn't some American teenager cosplaying as the opposite sex because it's the trendy thing to do; this person has gone under the knife twice already - no, wait, three times, counting the Serbia botch - to have his genitals remodeled. At this point, good sense dictates that there is probably nothing salvageable, and Kane is likely facing a lifetime of pain and infection.
He is, in other words, paying the price for his bad decisions. He, and no one else, is responsible.
