Frank Luntz, as a pollster, has produced some mixed results. Granted polling generally depends on figuring out what large masses of people think on various people and topics, when many of those people aren't all that sure what they think themselves. But on Wednesday, following President Joe Biden's now-infamous "garbage" comments, Mr. Luntz made some interesting statements - namely, that this epic gaffe on the part of befuddled old Joe Biden may be the last straw that breaks the back of Kamala Harris' presidential ambitions. Let's hope that he's right.
Frank Luntz on Biden calling Trump supporters "garbage": "It’s gonna be huge ... I can promise you that this is gonna drive Trump turnout ... This may be a turning point for those final 3%, and that’s all it is, who still need to be persuaded.”@DailyCaller pic.twitter.com/350VVwMlX7

Luntz, speaking on that comment, said:
It's gonna be huge, because is not some comedian saying something stupid and offensive at a rally where he should have just been basically disinvited. This is the President of the United States, endorsing his Vice President, saying something. And I know that there is (sic) different interpretations about what he said. It's still inappropriate. He still shouldn't be doing it. And I've watched Trump already seize this. The (Hillary Clinton) basket of deplorables was significant. It was meaningful in 2016. In 2024, I can promise you, that this is going to drive Trump turnout, it's doing it already, I can see, I'm sure there's going to be ads on as soon as (Wednesday) tonight about this. This may be a turning point for those final 3 percent, and that's all it is, who still need to be persuaded.
This is on CNN, you will note; that had to be downright painful to the talking heads that were speaking with Luntz.
We did not, of course, need any further evidence that old Joe Biden is way past his sell-by date. He should have already stepped down, even if that would have given us a President Kamala Harris for a few weeks until Donald Trump is inaugurated for the second time.
But here's the nub of the matter: Politicians, in moments of carelessness, sometimes say what they really think. In political circles, especially on the left, that's called a "gaffe," a "misspeak," or a "mistake" - when they say what they really think. There can be little doubt that Joe Biden, who was mean-spirited and vindictive at his best, actually thinks large portions of the American population are "garbage," just as Her Imperial Majesty Hillary I, Dowager-Empress of Chappaqua, thinks that we are a "basket of deplorables."
That's what they think of us, folks.
I'm not sure how much this will hurt the Harris campaign. While I would love for Frank Luntz to be right on this, it's hard for me to believe that anyone's vote for President of the United States could be swayed by one stupid comment from a senile old fool. But elections sometimes turn on odd things, and this may influence enough people on the margins to make a difference.

And no, Joe, Kamala, Trump supporters are not "garbage." But the Harris campaign is a dumpster fire - as would be a Harris presidency. Let's not let that happen. If you haven't voted, make sure you do.
