Michael Moore Now Thinks Joe Biden Has Super-President Powers. He's Wrong. Again.

This just in: Once more, Michael Moore doesn't know what he's talking about.

OK, that statement is an extreme example of belaboring the obvious. Michael Moore has never troubled himself overly much with the truth, or reality. But Moore is back in the news, this time "advising" Joe Biden, the lamest lame duck that ever lame-ducked, that he now has presidential superpowers and should use them to implement Moore's bucket list of far-left agenda items.

There's a problem. He can't.

Progressive filmmaker Michael Moore called on President Biden to use his remaining time in office to enact a host of liberal policies "with a simple stroke or two of your presidential pen."

"Some people are now calling you a ‘lame duck’ president — but then it occurred to me today: You’re not done," Moore wrote. "You’ve still got 100 days left in office!"

"You don’t answer to anyone," he added. "For the first time in over 50 years, you don’t have to campaign for anything. You are the opposite of lame, Joe. And you are not a duck."

The only accurate statement in there is the last one; true, Joe Biden is not a duck. He might actually have more self-awareness if he were one of our webfooted friends. But here's what the notorious blowhard bases his argument on:

"The Supreme Court has just granted you super powers — AND immunity!" Moore wrote, mocking the July Supreme Court decision that found a president is immune from prosecution for official acts.

No. That's wrong. As in, "not true." The president, yes, has some immunity for official acts, but he is still bound by the Constitution, and its limits on presidential power and authority. He has some immunity from "official acts." That phrase is key. A lot of the stuff that makes up the substance of Michael Moore's fevered imaginings would be flatly and completely unconstitutional. Not that the Constitution has never troubled Moore overly much. The only real surprise here is that Moore isn't advising Joe Biden to just go ahead and repeal the Constitution and write a new one while he's at it.

Michael Moore's "documentaries" are far-left political screeds. Some of his proposals for Biden to phone-and-pen into existence are such ridiculous notions as the blanket forgiveness of student loan and medical debt, the immediate cessation of aid to what Moore calls the "genocide regime" in Israel (add "genocide" to the long, long list of words for which Moore has no idea of the definition) as well as eliminating the death penalty and emptying the death rows in all federal prisons.

Joe Biden can do none of these things by himself. He doesn't have the authority. Michael Moore doesn't know what he's talking about; he's evidently never read the Constitution. If he has, he is (like many leftists) willing to toss it in the trash if it gets in his way.

Moore is, of course, just publicity-seeking. It's been a long time since he was relevant to anyone but the loony left, of which assemblage he is a founding member. He's not serious. He knows his screed here won't be taken seriously. The Biden administration is, for once, doing the prudent thing and ignoring him. The rest of us, though, can appreciate Michael Moore for one thing: Presenting us with some of the best unwitting comedy in the political world.
