Biden Campaign Responds to Obama Criticism; Both Sides Missing the Problem

Joe Biden is floundering in the polls. Every day he shows more of the classic signs of dementia, including noticeable memory loss, problems with reasoning, confusion, disorientation, agitation, inappropriate behavior, and unfounded anger. And as RedState's Nick Arama noted yesterday, Joe Biden's former boss, Barack Obama, is concerned with the prospects of Joe winning the 2024 election. He should be. But his concern is directed at the wrong problem.

Now the Biden campaign is pushing back, insisting that, against all evidence, they're doing just fine.

Quentin Fulks, principal deputy campaign manager for President Biden’s reelection bid, on Sunday defended the campaign’s approach and stressed that Obama and Biden are aligned in their position that Trump needs to be defeated.
“We’re going to continue to do what we need to do in order to be competitive and in order to make sure we’re growing the infrastructure that we need to win. President Obama and President Biden talk frequently, as do the campaign and former operatives from President Biden’s administration and his campaign,” Fulks said in an interview on NBC News’s “Meet the Press” when asked how the campaign is responding to Obama.
“But the one thing is that we’re both aligned on the fact that we have to push back on MAGA extremists and the threat that they pose to freedom and democracy. And so we’re focused on doing just that.”

Mr. Fulks is missing a lot of key points here; for one thing, the "MAGA extremists," by which he means "Republicans," have a vote, too, and dismissing and dehumanizing a major voting bloc isn't a smart idea. For another, the Biden campaign is propping up the most farcical presidential candidate since Pat Paulsen. And finally, a quick look at the optics - the southern border, prices of gas and groceries, the endless flood of taxpayer dollars going overseas - speaks eloquently to the failures of the Biden Administration.

Barack Obama and Quentin Fulks are straining at the gnat that is the Biden campaign's "strategy" while swallowing the camel of their befuddled, bewildered, dementia-ridden candidate.

Fulks concluded:

“And now we’re in the phase where more Americans are paying attention to what’s going on. And that is why we’re making the choice. The president’s speech at Valley Forge was the first of that. We’ll do it again tomorrow in South Carolina. And we’re going to continue to make that case to the American people. Because we are running this campaign and organizing it as though democracy is on the ballot. Because that’s what’s at stake this election.’

Speaking as an "anyone but Biden" voter, my response to this is, "Yes, please, do follow that exact plan, because it's a loser." The plan is a loser because it hinges on Joe Biden being the candidate. Now, that's anything but certain; there are people in the Democratic Party already saying old Joe should step aside, and the main thing that's preventing that from happening is Joe's life insurance policy - Kamala Harris. Because if the Democrats want to win the election, they not only would have to oust old Joe but Kamala as well. Time is of the essence here, as well. At this point, if the Democrats decide old Joe isn't their guy any longer, there isn't going to be a lot of time to come up with a new ticket.

The Biden plan also hinges on one other ill-advised tactic: pointing at the last three years and saying, "Hey, isn't this great? A wide-open southern border, millions of illegal immigrants flooding into the country; double-digit inflation, high gas, and grocery prices, rising interest rates pricing new cars and homes out of the reach of millions of Americans, and an Executive branch staffed with not the best and the brightest, but with the people that punch the most tabs on the DEI card. Do you all want more of that? Vote for Joe Biden!"

Do they think that is a good strategy? Color me skeptical.

Under more normal circumstances - meaning, circumstances that involved a candidate who wasn't visibly impaired both physically and mentally - the Biden campaign would have been well-advised to take Barack Obama's concerns to heart; he is, after all, the last Democrat to have won reelection. But the Biden administration and his 2024 campaign apparatus seem to feel they are at the top of their game all the time, even when it is painfully obvious that they are not. I'm loathe to offer them any advice; after all, as Napoleon Bonaparte was reputed to have said, "Never interfere with the enemy when he is in the process of destroying himself." But if the Democrats want to have anything left after this November, they need to convince the Biden people to take the Big Guy back to Delaware and find someone else to face Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, or whoever the GOP candidate ends up being - and that someone else shouldn't be Kamala Harris.
